  • Patent number: 7393285
Abstract: A putter head having a forward-facing striking surface, a heel, a toe, a top surface and a rearward-facing, elongated tail section. The elongated tail section has vertical side walls, into each of which is machined an elliptical track or groove along the inside surface. The elliptical tracks are spaced from each other at a width slightly less than the diameter of a golf ball, and are machined into the sidewalls at a predetermined angle of incidence such that, when viewed from directly overhead, the tracks will be perceived by the user as two parallel lines. If the user's eyes are not directly in line with the plane extending vertically from the centerline, then one of the tracks will increasingly disappear behind its respective sidewall, while the opposite track will appear to become increasingly curved, as the degree of misalignment increases. The putter thus provides a means of alignment that improves putting accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5810675
Abstract: A putting stroke training device is removably attached to a putter in a simple one step action. A body of the training device is attached to a conventional putter and includes a C-shaped, resilient attachment member that deforms to fit over the top-line of conventional putters and, by operation of memory of the material, abuts snugly to the back face of the putter in the back cavity. Two parallel alignment guide members extend from the body perpendicularly to the face of the putter. The training device is held in place by operation of the device itself without relying upon some non-integral means for attachment. The two parallel alignment members or fingers, extending perpendicularly from the putter club face, act as a guide between which an individual strikes a golf ball.

  • Patent number: 5769734
Abstract: A golf swing training device for attachment to a golf club. A bell-shaped weight having an axial bore and a slot that communicates with the bore is slidably mountable to the shaft of a golf club. The weight is attached to and suspended from an elastic, expansible cord. The cord is attached to an eyelet inserted into a recess in a top surface of the golf grip. A cord guard comprising a segment of tubing surrounds and protects the cord. The weight has inner and outer pairs of holes disposed on opposite sides of the bore through which opposite ends of the cord are threaded to reversibly attach the weight to the cord. During a downswing of the club, the weight slides under centrifugal force along the shaft toward the golf club head, which the golfer experiences as progressively increasing resistive force. The degree of resistive force is easily and rapidly adjustable by varying the length of cord between the eyelet and the weight when the club is at rest.

  • Patent number: 5709612
Abstract: A golf putter provides an optical means for aiming the putter face including a rotatable mirror mounted on the top of the putter so as to image an indicia line on the mirror surface as well as an indicia line on the top of the putter. When these two lines are aligned colinearly in the mirror and the lines are pointed at the golf ball and the target, the face of the putter is perfectly aligned for driving the ball toward the target. The mirror is held in a frame that provides a detent means for locking the mirror in one of several selected positions repeatably, including a position for aiming the putter and a position for storing the mirror on the top of the putter so as to be unnoticed.

Abstract: A putter including a club head, a shaft, a handle, a ball striking face, a heel, a toe, and an upper surface, with the shaft being connected to the upper surface, anda pair of light sources located in the ball striking face. One light source is located adjacent to the heel and other light source is located adjacent the toe. Also, included in the putter is a power source for energizing the light sources;a switch for connecting the light sources to the power source; and, anoptical device associated with each of the light sources for focusing a light beam from said light sources, when the light sources are energized, into a continuous, visible linear image of light in the form of a persistent, visual pair of alignment lines on a putting surface.

  • Patent number: 5676603
Abstract: A tracking device for a golf club, which requires no electrical power source, is comprised of a body of fiberoptic material which is affixed to an exterior surface of the golf club. The fiberoptic material gathers ambient light along its length, and directs that light, through internal reflection, so as to cause it to exit at an end. The illumination provides a bright spot on the head of the golf club which traces the path of the moving club. The fiberoptic material may include a fluorescent dopant which absorbs light of short wavelength and converts that absorbed light to emitted light of a longer wavelength. Use of the fluorescent dopant enhances the intensity of the light emitted from the device.

  • Patent number: 5558332
Abstract: An improved golf club head wherein 70%-97% of the total head weight is within 3/4"-1" of the heel and toe ends of the head. The golf club head is provided with an echo chamber for improving audible feedback to the golfer. Upper and lower overhangs extending from the echo chamber enhance the feedback. The golf club head is further provided with a variation of offset hosels and improved alignment indices. The structural arrangement of the dense metal end blocks allows for the adjustment of the club swing weight without disassembly and reassembly of the club head.

The base plate includes a body, a pointer, a guide strip, and a warning background. The club member attaches to a golf club, and includes a mounting clip, an extension arm, and a colored translucent blade coupled together. The guide strip, warning background, and blade cooperate to indicate a first color when the practice stroke is aligned and a second color when the practice stroke is misaligned. The apparatus is configured such that a golf ball travels over the practice surface during use, and such that a user can clearly view the golf ball in the address position and as it is struck by the golf club.
