Foot Positioning Aid Patents (Class 473/270)
  • Patent number: 12005306
Abstract: A swing trainer balance block apparatus for improving balance during swing training includes a foot board having a board top side, a board bottom side, a board front side, a board back side, a board left side, and a board right side. The board top side receives a portion of a user's foot. A base support is coupled to the foot board. The base support is coupled to the board bottom side and is elastically deformable to create instability in the foot board. One swing trainer balance block apparatus is used beneath each of the user's feet to stimulate stabilizer muscles while practicing swinging a baseball bat or a golf club.

  • Patent number: 8951139
Abstract: When golf is being played, the golf swing of a person (60) is decisive for the quality of the stroke. In order to obtain as good a golf swing as possible with a high hitting reliability and with precision, it is necessary to rotate the club with the arms (70) in a positionally fixed fashion about an imaginary axis through the head (68) and upper body (66). In order to monitor said positionally fixed rotation, it is generally necessary to consult a second person. Specifically, independent checking is possible only with difficulty. The object of the invention is therefore to provide a practice device (10) with which it is possible to check the position of the imaginary axis independently and without help from further persons in order to be able to practice the optimum golf swing even on one's own. The object is achieved by a practice device (10) according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 8517853
Abstract: A golf training system includes a stationary front foot support, a pivotable rear foot support and a raised ball support. The pivotable rear foot support includes a rectangular mounting bracket transversely disposed across an enlarged base and a flat balance plate that directly teeters on the mounting bracket. In use, the golf training system can be used to promote proper weight distribution throughout a golf swing using sensory and auditory feedback. Specifically, the golfer disposes the rear foot on top of the balance plate and the front foot across the stationary front foot support with body weight maintained on the inner portion of the rear leg throughout the backswing. The golfer initiates the downswing by firing the hips open and driving the lower body forward until the balance plate pivots and strikes the base, thereby providing the user with immediate audible and tactile response of proper execution.

Abstract: A training device for throwing a baseball includes a plate assembly that is pivotally connected to a support member. The plate assembly includes a flat, rectangular balance plate and a sleeve disposed transversely across the bottom surface of the balance plate. The support member includes an elongated support arm on which the sleeve is adapted to teeter and a generally T-shaped strike plate connected to the support arm. In use, the training device can be used in the following manner to train a pitcher to exert maximum rear leg drive while throwing a baseball. Specifically, the training device is disposed on a flat, level flooring surface such that the plate assembly teeters on the support member. The pitcher then centers his rear foot on the balance plate and lifts his front knee. At this time, the pitcher drives his rear knee forward until the balance plate pivots forward and contacts the strike plate which in turn generates an audible signal.

Abstract: A golf training device comprises an input portion (10) for inputting influence data comprising information that might affect how the user should address the ball, a calculation portion (13) for calculating address data, based on the input influence data, a playing surface (9). and an indication portion (14) for indicating address information from beneath the playing surface to the user, based on the calculated address data, relating to how the user should address the ball. In another aspect, a golf training device is provided for improving a user's bodyweight distribution during a golf stroke, comprising measurement means for providing a time series of bodyweight distribution measurements storage means for storing the time series of measurements and indication means for providing a comparison against a corresponding ideal.

Abstract: A swing plane indicating golf mat capable of indicating the path of a swing through the critical zone. The golf mat includes an array of toggling, grass-mimicking blades which, from the vantage point of the golfer, assume a different appearance when toggled over. In the preferred embodiment, the blades have a forward face and a rearward face. The forward face and rearward face are different colors. Because of the curvature of the blades, the blades normally appear one color when the blades are in their normal and non-toggled position. When the blades are toggled, the blades appear a different color.

Abstract: The invention pertains to a sports training device for improving the follow through of the lower body during a sport activity. The device includes a base having a top planar surface and a disk assembly removably coupled to the base and configured to receive a foot of a user. The disk assembly includes a first disk that is rotable between a first relaxed position and a second rotated position. Upon movement of the disk between the first relaxed position to the second rotated position, the disk is biased toward the first relaxed position. In some embodiments, the disk assembly is configured to be rotatable between a closed position wherein the disk is substantially coplanar with the top surface of the base and an open position wherein the disk is directed away vertically from the base upon rotation of the disk by the user's foot to the open position.

Abstract: A device for practicing an address stance and ball-hitting motion in sports such as baseball, softball and tennis. A hitter stands on a step plate (30) and a swivel plate (31) mounted on a flat base (12). The plates have adjustable separation, with the step plate fixable in a plurality of locations relative to the swivel plate. The plates align the hitter's feet using toe stops (36). The step plate (30) has a foot guard (34) that forces the hitter to step toward the pitch. The swivel plate (31) rotates about a vertical axis, and has foot-retaining straps (38, 39) that allow the heel to lift. The hitter learns to step toward the ball and swivel the back foot while swinging, turning the body, and shifting weight toward the ball. The foot plates (30, 31) are reversible on the base (12) for right or left-handed use.

Abstract: The Golf stance laser alignment device is designed to aid any golfer to be more accurately aligned with their intended direction to a target for flight of a golf ball propelled by striking it with a golf club. The alignment device consists of a periscope sighting lens or view-finder attached to telescope of at least 5× power and a laser generated light line projected on the ground to indicate the accurate foot alignment to an intended target as seen through the sighting telescope. The laser has a diffraction optical element that converts a laser beam into a planar arc of light which when projected onto a surface, such as the ground, produces a laser line. The laser line provides the golfer's feet alignment to the target that is sighted through the periscope or view-finder that has been aimed towards a distant target. The laser will be of sufficient power to be used in all lighting conditions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a golf stance aid for a golfer. It includes a foot alignment member along which the golfer's feet align. There is a ball alignment member that is parallel to the foot alignment member and along which a golf ball aligns. There is also a first connection member and a second connection member. These connection members pivotally connect the foot alignment member and the ball alignment member to form an adjustable parallelogram structure. There is a measuring member which attaches to the ball alignment member. The measuring member spans the distance between the foot alignment member and the ball alignment member. The measuring member has means for retaining indicia for recording changes in distance between the golf ball as aligned with the ball alignment member and the golfer's feet as aligned with the foot alignment member.
