Abstract: A golf ball cover is produced from a composition comprising an isocyanate-functional prepolymer and a curing agent of a polyamine or glycol, and an organic compound having at least one epoxy group such as the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a golf ball cover composition comprising: a) from about 45 to 55 weight percent of a first high acid ionomer having an acid content of about 19 weight percent and, b) from 55 to 45 weight percent of an ionomer selected from the group consisting of i) a second high acid ionomer having acid groups neutralized with a different metal ion than said first high acid ionomer, and ii) an ionomer containing about 15 weight percent acid groups.

Abstract: A thread rubber for thread wound golf balls having a high impact resilience and high strength, wherein the thread rubber is obtained by vulcanizing a rubber composition which comprises (a) a rubber component selected from the group consisting of natural rubber, a synthetic high-cis-polyisoprene rubber and a mixture thereof, (b) at least one specific diaryl disulfide, (c) a vulcanizing agent, and (d) antioxidant; the compound (b) being present in an amount of 0.5 to 10 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the rubber component (a).
Abstract: The present invention refers to a golf ball having projections in a form of dome, in a form of cut sphere, in a form of polyhedron, in a form of spherical polyhedron, in a form of which the base is in polygon and the sides are round and plane like the side of cut cone, in a form of which the base is in circle and the sides are round and plane like the side of cut cone or with a small dome put on each of cut top. The surface of the said inner cover can be made of projections of one kind on the whole or projections of a different kind. Meanwhile, it is possible to make the projections of one kind or more than two kinds that are different in a size or height. The said projections also may be apart from each other at regular intervals or may be in contact with each other, and in some cases, some projections may be in contact and some projections apart from each other.
Abstract: A thread-wound golf ball manufactured by concurrently winding a pair of rubber threads spaced 1-7 mm apart from each other on a core to form a wound core, which is then enclosed with a covering material. The covering material reliably penetrates into a rubber thread layer, thereby achieving an improved bonding strength between the covering material and the rubber thread layer. Durability of the golf ball is enhanced and the time period required for winding threads is considerably reduced, resulting in an improved productivity.
Abstract: A thread-wound golf ball comprising: a thread rubber ball prepared by winding thread rubber around a spherical center, and a cover enclosing the thread rubber ball therewith, which golf ball has a deformation under a load of 100 kg of from 2.5 to 3.7 mm, and wherein the center has an intrinsic frequency of from 2,000 to 4,000 Hz, an outer diameter of from 31 to 35 mm, a deformation under a load of 30 kg in the range of 1.2 to 2.6 mm, and a weight of from 19.5 to 29.0 g.
Abstract: A wound golf ball comprising a liquid center, thread rubber wound thereon, and a cover enclosing the wound center, whereinsaid cover has a multi-layer structure having a total thickness of 1.0 to 4.0 mm and including an outer layer having a first hardness and a thickness of 0.4 to 3.0 mm and an inner layer having a second hardness higher than the first hardness, the outer layer of said cover being formed of a first resin having a Shore D hardness of 40 to 55, and the inner layer is formed of a second resin having a Shore D hardness of 55 to 68, the difference in hardness between the first and second resins being at least 5 in Shore D hardness.
