Planet Periphery Surrounds Axis Of Interacting Gear (e.g., Eccentrically Driven Transmisson) Patents (Class 475/162)
  • Patent number: 5876298
Abstract: A speed reduction device including an overrunning clutch has a drive shaft having an eccentric ring and an inner gear plate disposed to be rotatable relative to the eccentric ring. The gear plate has a plurality of teeth and engagement holes. The device further has fixing pins fixed to the housing in engagement with the engagement holes of the inner gear plate to restrict rotation of the inner gear plate to thereby allow swinging of the gear plate, an outer ring disposed around the inner gear plate and connected to a driven shaft and a torque transmitting member which engages the teeth of the inner gear plate to transmit torque from the inner gear plate to the outer ring. The torque transmitting member is arranged to disengage the teeth of the inner gear plate by centrifugal force when the outer ring rotates at a speed higher than a threshold value.

Their teeth (7, 8) have a rounded-off head and the number of teeth of the second gear wheel (6) is slightly less than that of the first gear wheel (5). That point on the tooth flanks of the first gear wheel (5) at which the flank section extending along an involute passes into the flank section formed by the rounding-off of the head lies on a circle, the diameter (d.sub.el) of which is chosen so as to be at least approximately the same as the base circle diameter (d.sub.bl) of the first gear wheel (5). The top circle diameter (d.sub.al) of the first gear wheel (5) is smaller than its base circle diameter (d.sub.bl).

Abstract: Drive device for a vehicle part that is displaceable between end positions, with an electric motor connected by a reduction gear to a driving pinion which is connected to the vehicle part so as to drive it, as well as with a switching device for controlling the motor to stop the motor in at least one predetermined position of the vehicle part. To actuate the switching device there is a switch wheel which, during displacement of the vehicle part between its end positions, is rotated less than 360.degree. by an eccentric gear train. The eccentric gear train has an external gear with an internal toothing coaxial to a common shaft of the reduction gear and the eccentric gear train, an eccentric disk that is connected to the common shaft in a manner precluding relative rotation between the eccentric disk, and an internal gear with an external toothing that meshes with the internal toothing of the external gear.

Abstract: A rotary actuator suitable for a robotic arm or servo drive, which is capable of large loads and large speed reductions is disclosed. The device includes an input shaft that drives an epicyclic transmission integral with the articulation. The transmission is contained in a fixed arm housing and an end housing. An input shaft has eccentrics that rotate two primary external spur gears which are engaged with two primary internal gears. The two primary external gears are fastened on both faces of the external secondary gear. The external primary gears and external secondary gear rotate about the axis of an eccentric, and orbit the input shaft axis. A secondary external gear transmits its rotary motion to an internal secondary gear affixed to an output arm. Large speed reductions are possible due to the differential action of the primary and secondary gears.

  • Patent number: 5046995
Abstract: This invention is a steplessly variable power transmission, comprising: an input driven planet gear, having axially disposed teeth, confined to reciprocate in straight diametrical channels in a output driving ring gear. When the teeth also move on a straight line as related to the housing, no rotary drive can be placed on the output ring gear, and the transmission is in a neutral mode. But, when the teeth are forced to curve, as related to the housing, the output gear must rotate accordingly. For example: if the input driven teeth veer away one degree, from a straight line, while the input rotates a full 360 degree rotation, then the input-output ratio is 360 to 1 underdrive. When the teeth path is a circle, the ratio is 1 to 1, but, the extreme lows, allow built-in overdrive gearing. The preferred embodiment has a stepless range from neutral to 3 to 1 overdrive. There are numerous methods to curve the path of the input driven teeth.

Abstract: An eccentric gear comprising a stationary gear wheel (2) and an eccentric gear wheel (9). The eccentric wheel is freely mounted on the input shaft and is driven round by eccentric means (4, 6) causing the eccentric wheel to roll round the internal teeth on the stationary wheel. A driving dog transmits the slow rotation of the eccentric wheel to an output shaft (14). Distinguishing for the invention is that the teeth are corrected such that the eccentric wheel is adjusted with the aid of the two eccentric means such that there is practically no backlash. A computer calculated least clearance between respective top lands on the teeth is obtained with respect to tooth meshing. The eccentric means comprises two cylindrical sleeves arranged eccentrically one in the other. At one end part of each of the sleeves, one of which is arranged eccentrically in the other, there is a radially outstanding tongue (5, 7).
