Plural Orbits Braked Patents (Class 475/290)
  • Patent number: 5277670
Abstract: In a load change-over gear with infinitely variable transmission, which includes a linkage gear (1) driven by a main drive shaft (5), a control gear (2) associated with the linkage gear (1), as well as a switching or change-over gear (4) series-connected after the linkage gear (1), linkage shafts (10 and 11) can be alternately coupled to the switching gear (4). To create a variable switching logic and to save structural components of the switching gear (4), a superposition gear (3) is series-connected after the linkage gear (1) whose input shaft (14) can be coupled alternately to linkage shafts (10 and 11). Superposition gear (3), in which the main drive shaft rpm can be superposed on the rpm of the input shaft (14), in turn includes a linkage shaft (21) that can be coupled directly to a main output shaft (24) or to the switching gear (4).

  • Patent number: 5226862
Abstract: An improved planetary gear type transmission mechanism is provided which is capable of realizing a plurality of desired speed ratios in a wide range, for example in an automatic transmission, and which maintains gear ratios of all of a plurality of planetary gear sets in an available range. The transmission mechanism includes a double pinion type planetary gear set.

  • Patent number: 5167594
Abstract: An actuating mechanism for adjusting the angular relationship of co-axial primary and second drives while both are running comprises a double planetary gear train having a freely rotatable common sun gear (201) and first and second ring gears (213, 223) rotatable relative to each other and each coupled to the sun gear by respective sets of caged planet gears (208, 218). One ring gear (213) is normally held against rotation and the other (223) is adjustable relative thereto. The gear cages are fast with the respective drives.

  • Patent number: 5133697
Abstract: A planetary gear system has seven members rotatable relative to one another, one stationary member, and five selective engaging devices each disposed between two of the members. Each member contains one or more of elements which are input and output elements, a stationary element, and a plurality of active elements, such as sun gears, ring gears, and planet carriers, constituting a planetary gear arrangement connected between the input and output elements for providing a plurality of forward gear ratios and at least one reverse gear ratio. With the eight members and the five selective engaging devices, the planetary gear system makes it possible to attain desired gear ratio values for all the speeds.

  • Patent number: 5106352
Abstract: A multispeed automatic transmission for automobile vehicles having parallel input shaft output shaft includes two parallel gearsets and of constant-mesh gearwheels providing two fixed speed ratios. The second speed ratio is higher than the first speed ratio and in same direction. A first power path using the first fixed speed ratio includes a first control clutch and a second control clutch, and a second power path using the second fixed speed ratio includes a third control clutch. Further, the transmission includes a double planetary gearset, a first control brake and a second control brake. Alternatively, the input shaft and output shaft are in alignment and one of the two speed ratios is a direct drive. The transmission features six forward speeds, a braked neutral and a reverse drive.

  • Patent number: 5080637
Abstract: A hydrostatic-mechanical power-distribution transmission with infinitely variable gear ratio in the hydrostatic branch and several ratios in the mechanical branch, which downstream of the coupling gear has shiftable planetary reduction gears for the purpose of reducing the power contribution of the hydrostatic branch in the starting range.

  • Patent number: 5013289
Abstract: A power transmission has three countershaft gear sets which provide selective input members for a pair of interconnected simply planetary gear arrangements. The planetary gear arrangements have the sun gears interconnected, a ring gear and a carrier interconnected, another carrier connected with a transmission output shaft and another ring gear connected with one of the transfer gear sets. The other two transfer gear sets are connected with respective ones of the interconnected members. A plurality of selectively engageable clutches and brakes are arranged to establish input and reaction members for the planetary gear arrangement to provide six forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio.

  • Patent number: 5011465
Abstract: An in-line transmission provides 26 useful speeds, including 19 forward speeds and 7 reverse speeds. The transmission includes a main planetary having three sets of planetary gears, as well as a separate hi-lo planetary. At least the first and second sets of planetary gears on the main planetary carrier are formed of double gears. Each side of the first set of double gears has its own ring gear which is independently brakable relative to the housing and its own sun gear. Drive from the input shaft to these two sun gears is provided along two main paths, one direct and the other through the hi-lo planetary. One side of the second set of double gears also has an independently brakable ring gear, as well as a sun gear connected to the output shaft. However, the other side of the second set of double gears meshes only with the third set of planetary gears, which preferably are single gears.
