  • Patent number: 5240462
Abstract: A planetary reduction gear comprising pairs of partial planetary gears, two partial internal gears and a sun gear or comprising pairs of partial planetary gears, two partial sun gears and an internal gear in which partial planetary gears mesh with partial internal gears or with partial sun gears independently. One of the partial gears is fixed to the input shaft or to the casing. The other partial gear is loosely connected to the input shaft or to the casing by a spiral coupling which allows the partial gear to move in spiral direction. A pressing means pushes the partial gear in the axial direction. Force of the pressing means moves the partial gear in the spiral direction. The partial gear slightly rotates relatively to the other partial gear. Relative rotation of the partial gears cancels backlashes. In the case of helical gears, the spiral coupling can be replaced by an axial coupling.

  • Patent number: 5232416
Abstract: Method and apparatus for the varying locking rates of a differential gear system has a driven differential cage (1) with two coaxial axle shaft gears (9, 10) retained in cylindrical cavities (7, 8) within the cage. The gears (9, 10) are coupled to each other via groups of compensating gears (11, 12) positioned parallel thereto. Engagement of various compensating gear pairs (11, 12) with both axle shaft gears (9, 10) is sequentially rendered either effective or ineffective, in order to generate a variable, resultant radial and/or tangential force to be applied to the axle shaft gear (9, 10). The force generates a variable frictional force in the support bearings (7, 8) of the axle shaft gears.

  • Patent number: 4986802
Abstract: An improved planetary gear box for a heavy duty truck jack which includes a planetary gear box that provides high torque and in-line input and output shafts and a high gear ratio and a compact package which does not require many precision machine parts. The invention uses parts formed by stamping rather than machining and uses a floating ring gear which can move relative to the housing, thus, allowing a stamped ring gear to be utilized. Floating planetary gears are used by providing slotted carriers whic allow the planet gears to float which eliminates concentric problems with the planet gears and the carrier assembly. The invention allows the use of a stamped housing and the rear carrier of the planet gears is staked to the drive pilot of the jack screw. The invention results in an improved and less expensive jack than utilized in the prior art.
