  • Publication number: 20130150217
Abstract: A dumbbell with adjustable weight essentially includes a handle, two first weight blocks, two second weight blocks, and two position-limiting elements. The handle has a gripping portion and two arms protruding outward from the gripping portion. The first weight blocks are removably disposed around the arms of the handle, respectively. The second weight blocks are removably disposed around the first weight blocks, respectively. The position-limiting elements abut against the second weight blocks ends, respectively. Hence, a user can adjust the total weight of the dumbbell by changing or removing the second weight blocks.

Abstract: Weighted and stackable exercise device includes a body defining a hollow cavity opening at a first edge thereof. The body has a side wall having at least one cut-out. An outwardly projecting rim is on the tubular portion of the body. A handle is in the cavity. The rim provides a first grip for a user during use of the exercise device and the handle provides a second grip for the user. By providing two different grips on the same weighted exercise device, a user can safely and efficiently perform a larger variety of exercises in comparison to using conventional exercise devices that include a single type of grip. The user can pass their fingers and hand from an exterior of the device through each cut-out and over the rim to grip the device in another manner and perform more and different exercises.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an ergonomically shaped kettlebell apparatus that saves the user's hands and wrists from common injuries that occur during kettlebell workouts. The kettlebell includes one or more handle cutouts and an angled backside. The handle cutouts are shaped to reduce the heavy friction that kettlebells apply to the user's hands, especially the outside of the pinky fingers during a two handed kettlebell swing, which typically causes friction hotspots. The angled backside shaves down between approximately a quarter of an inch to two inches off the back half of the kettlebell, such that it is shaped to reduce the stress and impact placed on the back of the user's wrist and forearm during a kettlebell flipping motion such as a one handed kettlebell snatch or when the kettlebell is held in an upright position, which typically causes wrist and forearm injuries.

In addition, the flexible exercise device contains metal particles in the core of the device which will move back and forth freely inside the exercise device adding to the exercise benefits by increasing the weight and increasing resistance through the dynamic movement of the metal particles plus creating a noise that can allow an individual to achieve more benefit from an exercise such as walking to enhancing better coordination in the movement of one's hands and arms with the simultaneous movement of one's legs as in walking by trying to achieve a consistent noise level during the exercise.

Abstract: Weight plate locking and lifting systems by which one or more weight plates are detachably connected to a lifting handle bar to enable the weight plates to be removed from or returned to a nearby storage rack without having to lift, transport and handle the weight plates. Each weight plate includes a toggle lever switch arm that is coupled to a locking pin. Each weight plate also includes a radially-extending locking cavity within which to removably receive the lifting handle bar. When the toggle lever switch arm is moved to a locked position, the locking pin slides in a first direction through the weight plate and into engagement with the lifting handle bar within the locking cavity. When the toggle lever switch arm is moved to an unlocked position, the locking pin slides in an opposite direction out of engagement with the lifting handle bar.

  • Patent number: 8021282
Abstract: An improved exercise device in the nature of a kettlebell. The device has a frame covered by a shroud that is configured to lessen the impact of the device on the user. There are a plurality of weights that can be easily attached and detached from the frame to increase or lessen the load to the user. The weights are designed so that they can be added or taken away without altering the center of gravity of the device or the external physical shape of the device. There is also a base that holds the device while the weights are being changed and which also interacts with the device to assist in that exchange. The attaching and detaching system includes a pin that is used to affix the weights to the frame. A dual locking system assures that the pin does not inadvertently come loose during use of the device.

  • Patent number: 8012069
Abstract: A selectorized dumbbell has nested stacks of left and right weight plates, a handle that can be disposed between the two stacks of weight plates, and a selector that couples selected numbers of the left and right weight plates to left and right planar ends of the handle. The handle has at least one loop type hand grip located above the ends of the handle and above the weight plates to allow the dumbbell to be used as a kettlebell. This loop type hand grip can be replaced with a bar type hand grip if the dumbbell is to be used like a standard dumbbell, or the handle can be provided in kettlebell or standard versions thereof. Alternatively, the loop type hand grip can be movably disposed on the handle for movement between operative and non-operative positions.

  • Patent number: 8007416
Abstract: A rigid adjustable hand weight system for use in physical fitness exercise consisting of a rigid flat handle portion with rigid flat weight members disposed on either end whose size and shape are such that two or more units may be bundled together and held within the user's hand secured together by the user's grip. Each unit may be held singularly or in a group with one or more other units in various combinations to create a hand weight bundle of the desired poundage. For instance, units weighing 2, 3 and 4 pounds may be lifted singularly or combined as necessary to create 5, 6, 7 and 9 pound weight combinations as the user desires. Eliminated is the need for fasteners such as screws, pins or other means since the user's grip provides the force that keeps the units bundled together.

Abstract: A dumbbell having adjustable inertial resistance load in the field of athletic sports devices is disclosed. The structure of the present invention is characterized in that the hand grip of the dumbbell is provided inside with a rotatable main shaft, the two swing hammer rods and the swing hammers at both ends of the main shaft constitute a normal pendulum, and the two pendulums at both ends of the main shaft are connected through the main shaft, so as to be functionally combined into the function of one eccentric pendulum. The main shaft, the two swing hammer shafts and the swing hammers constitute an eccentric pendulum. The two pendulums fixed at both ends of the main shaft may be adjusted at different angles. In case the angle between the two pendulums is zero degree, upon the rotation of the pendulums, the forces between the hand grip and the hand, besides the mutual force in the up-and-down direction, also include the periodic inertial force in the fore-and-aft direction.
