  • Patent number: 8109410
Abstract: A vending machine includes a storage/display region, a dispensing chamber including a product access opening, and an anti-pilfer device that prevents unauthorized removal of products from the storage/display region through the product access opening. A delivery door is provided which can be shifted from a closed position to an open position to enable the removal of products from the dispensing chamber. The anti-pilfer device includes a plate coupled to a lower portion of the delivery door. When the delivery door is moved from the closed position, the anti-pilfer plate shifts, over a guide element, into a position that prevents products from being withdrawn from the storage/display area. Preferably, the storage/display region and dispensing chamber are separated by a product door, with the anti-pilfer plate preventing the product door from opening when the delivery door is shifted from the closed position.

Abstract: A mechanism to control opening/closing of a container door[s] is disclosed. The mechanism is generally located at one end of the container and utilizes a geometric arrangement of opposing fluid actuated cylinders, control members and pivot members to control movement of the doors. A control mechanism allows an operator to selectively open the doors simultaneously or independently. In the preferred embodiment, the control members are rigid members each attached at its top end to a respective door and at its bottom end to a respective pivot member rotatably mounted to the container. Distances between each of the control member bottom ends and a respective one of the rotatable mounts of the respective pivot member to the container for both control members are substantially equal.

  • Patent number: 4733498
Abstract: An access window for use in fast food establishments and other similar drive-thru business establishments is disclosed. The window broadly comprises an elastic operating mechanism, two planar window members and a segmented articulated push-bar operator which is pushed to open the access windows. The push-bar operator can be locked in the open position. Upon releasing and/or unlocking the operator push-bar assembly the access window returns to its closed position by means of a closer bias member. The access window also comprises a locked window bias member which absorbs the pushing action on the operator push-bar, in the event the access window is latched shut, without damaging the access window and further without damaging the operating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4653227
Abstract: A door operating assembly for opening and closing vehicle doors at a constant door edge force includes a frame. A teeter lever assembly is pivotally mounted on the frame and is connected to a connecting rod assembly connecting the teeter lever assembly and the vehicle doors. A cylinder is mounted on the frame and includes a reciprocally mounted rod. The rod is reciprocated by pressurized air introduced into the cylinder. The rod is connected to the teeter lever assembly to rotate the teeter lever assembly. The teeter lever assembly includes a variable diameter cam. A spring for closing the doors is secured at a first end to the frame and at a second end to a flexible connection member. The flexible connection member connects the spring to the cam and wraps around the outer periphery of the cam upon door opening. The energy stored in the spring at full extension is used to close the doors.

  • Patent number: 4490941
Abstract: A door operator for opening and closing doors on transit vehicles and the like includes an actuator (50) secured to the transit vehicle (10). The actuator houses a worm drive and a reciprocating air cylinder (52) for imparting rectilinear motion to the worm drive. A door shaft (18) is coupled to a door (14) and mechanically coupled to the worm drive such that rectilinear motion of the system is transmitted by the worm drive into rotary motion to the drive shaft to open and close the door. A cam (90) is secured to the vehicle and adjacent to a cam follower (108) that is secured to the door shaft. The cam follower engages the cam during approximately the initial 80% motion during closing of the door and approximately the final 80% of the door opening. A recycling switch (200) for the door may be mounted in the vehicle adjacent to the cam in a position to be engaged upon engagement of the door with an object to recycle the door.

  • Patent number: 4433505
Abstract: A plug door for a vehicle, such as a railway carriage, is carried and driven by a swinging lever which has a sliding fulcrum mechanism the effect of which is to flatten the arc through which the door is carried. The edge of the door which trails in an opening movement is guided either by means of a relatively long pivot arm or by a curved or straight track. The alternative guide means give different trajectories to the leading edge of the door, the long pivot arm guide keeps the door closest to the side of the vehicle during opening. A duplicate swinging lever with sliding fulcrum mechanism as a guide for the trailing edge will move the door parallel to the side of the vehicle and the sliding fulcrums will substantially reduce the outward excursion. By mounting the driving swinging lever over-center, i.e. closer to the trailing edge of the door the plug action is provided for so that a closed door may be flush with the vehicle skin.

  • Patent number: 4421342
Abstract: An emergency release and rotary actuator including a cylinder containing compressed gas or ignitable chemical material, a pressure tube and electrically fired detonation means for releasing the gas into such pressure tube or igniting the chemical material to release the gaseous products of combustion there under pressure into such pressure tube, a piston within such pressure tube, the shaft of which extends outside the pressure tube and carries a lug which engages diverging slots in closely surrounding tubes, all except one of which is rotatable, and a shaft, gear, pulley, or arm attached to one or more of the rotatable concentric tubes. An electrical impulse from a sensing or manual switch causes a detonating force releasing gas or igniting the chemical to drive the piston, the shaft lug of which moves through the diverging slots to rotate at least one rotatable concentric tube to operate a latch, tighten a strap or position a panel or air bag.
