  • Patent number: 10219324
Abstract: A rear slider window assembly for a vehicle includes a movable window panel that is movable along channels of a fixed window panel via guide pins. A first guide pin moves along a first channel, which as a slot established therealong and therethrough. An electrical connector electrically connects electrical terminals at the fixed window panel to electrical terminals at the movable window panel, and includes a pin follower that extends through the slot of the first channel to electrically connect to a flexible cable connected to terminals at the fixed window panel and to electrical terminals at the movable window panel. The lower rail may include a water drainage element including (i) a hole established through the lower rail and (ii) a drainage receiving conduit attached at the fixed window panel beneath the hole of the lower rail and spaced from the lower rail.

Abstract: An invention is provided for an independently operable ventilating security garage door system. The invention includes a ventilating security garage door that is permeable to light and air, and is wider than the existing garage door. The system also includes a plurality of ventilating security garage door rails that allow the ventilating security garage door to move between open and closed positions. Each rail is disposed to an outside of an existing garage door rail. Connected to the ventilating security garage door via cables is a rear torsion assembly, which is disposed behind the ventilating security garage door. In operation, the rear torsion assembly provides torque to assist in opening and closing the ventilating security garage door.

Abstract: An automatic opening/closing apparatus for vehicle, which is provided with a tensioner mechanism for applying a predetermined tension to a cable member, is downsized. A case of a driving unit is provided with a tensioner housing, and the tensioner mechanism for applying the predetermined tension to a cable is accommodated in the tensioner housing. The tensioner mechanism includes a pulley holder movably mounted on a guide shaft, and a spring for biasing the pulley holder, wherein a movable pulley is rotatably supported by the pulley holder. The cable drawn in the tensioner housing is wound about the movable pulley so that a direction in which the cable is drawn out from the case is substantially parallel to a direction in which the cable is drawn out from a driving drum, whereby the predetermined tension is applied to the cable by a spring force of the spring.

  • Publication number: 20040244292
Abstract: A drive assembly moves a vehicle closure panel from an open to a closed condition. The drive assembly has a housing and a motor mounted on the housing. A drum and gear assembly is rotatably mounted on the housing. The drum and gear assembly has a drum having a helical groove, a gear in driving engagement with the motor, and a spring biasing the drum in a winding direction relative to the gear. The drum and gear have a lost motion connection therebetween. A cable has an end connected to the closure panel and an opposite end connected to the drum about the helical groove in the winding direction. The drum rotates in the winding direction relative to the stationary gear as the closure panel is manually moved from the open to the closed condition with the spring maintaining a cable tension. The drum and gear rotate together in the winding direction upon energizing the motor effecting powered movement of the closure panel to the closed condition.

Abstract: An opening-and-closing device opens and closes a sliding door by using a cable connected to the sliding door movably attached to a vehicle body. The opening-and-closing device has a base bracket, a motor, a transmission, a rotary drum, a first conduit fixed portion, a second conduit fixed portion, a first tension controller and a second tension controller. The base bracket is fixed to the vehicle body with bolts. The motor, the transmission, the rotary drum, the first and second conduit fixed portions and the first and second tension controllers are fixed to a disposition face of the base bracket. The first and second tension controllers are respectively disposed between the rotary drum and the first conduit fixed portion and between the rotary drum and the second conduit fixed portion, and applies tension to the cable fed from the rotary drum to take up the slack.

Abstract: A retractable cover apparatus for use with an open-top bin is disclosed and comprises a cover and a support. The cover includes a cover portion and one or more carriage portions. Each carriage portion includes a pair of spaced-apart rollers rotatably mounted to said cover portion. The support defines a bifurcated track which permits constrained movement of said rollers in a manner which provides for movement of said cover between a sheltering position and an upwardly tilted open position; and between the sheltering position and a sealed position, relatively lower than the sheltering position. At the sheltering position, the cover overlies said open top when said bin is operatively disposed therebeneath; at the open position, the cover permits loading into said bin when said bin is operatively positioned; and at the sealed position, the cover is adapted to substantially seal said open top against the infiltration of atmospheric precipitation.

  • Patent number: 6505381
Abstract: A hinge system for deploying panels or other structures from a satellite or spacecraft has at least two configurations. The panels are held in a substantially stacked disposition in the stowed configuration by the hinge system which connects to each panel and includes an intermediate arm sized to span any necessary space between the two panels in the stowed configuration. A deployment cable is attached to one of the panels and threaded over a series of pulleys disposed on the hinge system and onto a spool in the other panel. When the spool is driven to wind the deployment cable onto it, the tension in the cable pulls on the pulleys, causing the hinge to unfold and then slide into a housing located on one of the panels. This deployed configuration allows the panels to be held aligned and directly adjacent to one another by the tension of the deployment cable.

Abstract: A cable actuator for a casement sash includes a cable engager that moves against an opening pull cable and diverts the cable to an elongated path when the sash is closed. When the opening pull cable is tensioned to open the sash, this moves the cable back to a shorter tensioned path that moves the cable engager in a way that initiates opening the sash. Thereafter, the sash opens further in response to winding in of the opening pull cable.
