With Means To Accommodate Window Accessory; E.g., Automobile-type Door Patents (Class 49/502)
  • Patent number: 5430977
Abstract: Disclosed is a structure for mounting a window regulator in which a guide rail is fixedly mounted by a plurality of bolts to a door inner panel, and a door window is supported and bolted from below by a sliding support member which slides along the guide rail, to thereby move the door window up and down. One of a plurality of mounting holes of the door inner panel for mounting the guide rail is a round hole formed as a reference hole which does not allow adjustment of mounting position of the guide rail, while the other mounting holes are oblong holes which allow the adjustment of mounting position of the guide rail, mounting holes of the sliding support member for mounting the door window are formed oblong to allow adjustment of mounting position of the door window, and a service hole is provided, in the door inner panel, for fastening the door window in an up stop position of the door window to the sliding support member.

Abstract: A sealing strip adjacent a slidable window glass in an automobile body, provides a sealing lip which is mounted on an air-tight hollow chamber having two relatively rigid sides stiffened by a metal carrier. The third side is a relatively flexible wall. Expansion of the chamber by air pressure pushes the flexible wall outwardly so that a leg pivots the lip out of engagement with the window glass. In this configuration, a further chamber can be expanded by air pressure so that a wiper is caused to move into contact with the face of the window glass. As the window glass is raised or lowered, this wiper removes moisture and prevents smearing. Partial evacuation of the chambers retracts the flexible wall, thus pulling the lip into sealing engagement with the window glass, and also causes the wiper to move out of contact with the glass. A water jet may also be provided to spray cleaning water onto the glass when in the closed position.

Abstract: A second door part is provided which is detachably mounted at the outside surface of a first door part which is openable and closable in relation to an automobile body. The second door part is engaged with the first door part by a locking mechanism. By operating the locking mechanism, redressing of the door by selectively attaching different types of second door parts can be carried out. Additionally, maintenance of mechanisms within the door can be easily performed. When it is desired to provide a window glass which can be raised and lowered for the second door part, a window glass raising/lowering mechanism having a lever arm is mounted to the first door part and a window glass is mounted to the second door part, a glass holder is fixed to a lower end of the window glass and the lever arm and the glass holder are engaged with each other. When the second door part is attached to and detached from the first door part, the lever arm and the glass holder are also disengaged from one another.

  • Patent number: 5107624
Abstract: The frame is intended to be mounted on a lower panel of a motor vehicle door. It comprises two uprights, a front upright and a rear upright respectively, joined at their upper ends by a cross member and adapted to define, together with upper edge of the lower panel, a space for the window associated with the door. The uprights and the cross member are formed by at least two shaped elements joined longitudinally so as to form a box structure. The frame can thus assume the desired three-dimensional configuration and its dimensions can vary in the general plane of the door and in the direction perpendicular thereto. The uprights may also extend downwardly so as to constitute a reinforcement for the side edges and portions of the lower edge of the lower panel adjacent thereto.
