  • Patent number: 4479335
Abstract: An interior wall system formed from two opposing walls. Each opposing wall is assembled from a plurality of composite wall panels, each wall panel having an exterior surface material and an interior layer of insulating material bonded to one side of the exterior surface material. Each opposing wall is anchored to top and bottom U-shaped support members and adjoining wall panels of each wall are connected by a plurality of retaining clips. The retaining clips may be adjusted in length to accommodate various widths between the opposing walls. Additionally, splines are inserted between the first and second walls along the seams between adjoining wall panels. The wall system also includes a door frame comprising first and second jamb members and a lintel member, each having a spacing member attached to approximately the center thereof. The spacing members are inserted between the opposing walls and are used to anchor the door frame in place.

  • Patent number: 4275526
Abstract: A thermal-break window of extruded frame members interconnected to form a substantially rectangular frame for encasing a glass panel in which each of the frame members is formed with a channel along its axial length. This channel contains a material of low thermal conductivity hardened in situ and with a strip of the extruded material along the channel being removed, effectively separating thereby each of the extruded frame members into two sections along their entire lengths, representing exterior and interior sections, that remain joined only by the material of low thermal conductivity. Consequently, the exterior frame sections are and remain thermally insulated from the interior frame sections. Furthermore, certain of the extruded frame members are designed to snap-fit to one another, providing for ease and simplicity in assembly.

Abstract: A double window construction and particularly an interior storm window construction wherein the framing or frame of the storm window is uniquely configured to provide both window support for the storm windows installed and also a smooth interior finish relative to the window opening being accommodated. The windows themselves are chamfered at their outer edges to provide for ease of installation in tracks or channels formed by resilient ribs. The sides of each rectangular storm window, as to the frame, are generally L-configured in transverse cross-section and include outwardly facing support ribs for providing support as well as space to receive a settable fluid substance such as silicone rubber, whereby to provide a secure support for the frame. The inner edges of the frame sides are preferably cut at the job site to abut directly the interior surface of the existing window frame.

  • Patent number: 4259813
Abstract: A window frame of extruded material having vertical members including sash guides wherein the vertical members are identical but reversed with respect to each other and in mirror-image relation; the sill and header are identical but inverted and reversed end for end with respect to each other. Each frame may be constructed of an identical pair each of two different members. The sill slopes downwardly toward the exterior of the frame. The sill and header are notched at right angles to the outer and inner surfaces to form corner seams which carry out the horizontal lines of the window frame and which do not require exact and difficult mitering to obtain a perfect seam. Such joints do not open during shipping and handling as do miter joints. The sash frame elements are made from a third extrusion. The vertical members and the sill and header are provided with sash supports in which the outer sash edge rides against an end wall of a vertical channel which faces into the window.

Abstract: A clamping device for clamping a structure, such as a door or window case, nto a frame of substantially U-shape cross-section, and which has an inner web wall with an offset portion and a sidewall on each side, comprises, a clamping body of substantially U-shape cross-section. The clamping body has a back web wall adapted to be secured to the structure and a leg wall on each side of the web wall which extends outwardly therefrom. At least a portion of the length of each of the leg walls is resilient so that it may be bent inwardly or outwardly. The substantially U-shaped abutment has a back abutment wall which is adapted to be slidably engaged into a receiving groove at the offset portion of the frame. It includes an abutment sidewall on each side which is disposed alongside the respective ones of the leg walls. A clamp member is movably disposed between the side leg walls of the clamping body and it is displaceable to move these walls into clamping engagement with the sidewall of the abutment.

  • Patent number: 4248018
Abstract: A multiple track window, preferably with extruded plastic framing and glazing sealing strips, is described. Glazing panels are releaseably held and slideable for opening within side framing channels which are formed by releaseably interlocking members which may be integrally hinged to one another. The glazing panels are also directly removeable from the channels formed. Sealing strips with tubular protrusions are attached to adjacent edges of the glazing panels and provide a seal at their central meeting. Such a sealing strip is also adapted for use as a sill sealing strip. Thus, a tightly sealable and efficient insulating window formed from improved elements in accordance with the disclosure is provided. The glazing panels of the window may be opened to adapt to climactic conditions or ventilation requirements, or may be removed for cleaning, maintenance or other reason.

Abstract: A metal door frame assembly comprising two jambs and a lintel, all of the same crosssectional shape, which includes a central door striker portion flanked on its two sides by an inner web and an outer web respectively, each web terminating in a respective end flange which itself terminates in a inturn flange, each inturn flange terminating in an returned flange. Assembly of the jambs and lintel is effected by mitre joints, and at each mitre joint there is a bridging strip which extends between the facing surfaces of the end flanges, and which bears against the rear surfaces of the inner and outer webs of the jamb and lintel. The bridging strip is retained in position by a pair of locking plates, each of which has a pair of tabs which engage respective apertures in the returned flanges of the jamb and lintel.

  • Patent number: RE31536
Abstract: This invention relates to a metal clad window product. The window frame and sash are basically made of milled, elongated wooden members with suitable interconnecting parts, such as mortises and tenons, at the ends of the same. A metal cladding member is attached to each elongated member before assembly of the window parts. The metal cladding member has flanges formed integral therewith which fit into rabbets in the sides of the elongated wooden members forming the frame and sash parts to secure the cladding to the part. The cladding includes an extension at one edge thereof which forms with suitable stop members in the assembled sash, a mounting for a glazing panel assembly. In the case of the window frame, the extension forms the mounting of the weather seal for sealing the sash to the window frame.
