Abstract: A compacting device (40) for attachment to an earthmoving machine (2) to compact a substrate is described. The compacting device (40) includes a plurality of wheel assemblies (41, 42, 43) mounted for rotation in bearings (46). A support is also provided, having a base part (48) that is adapted to be mounted to the earthmoving machine (2). One or more bearing support members (47) extend from the base part (48) and between the wheel assemblies (41, 42, 43) to support the bearings (46). Each wheel assembly (41, 42, 43) includes a set of ground-contacting feet (44) secured to and peripherally spaced apart around a rim portion of the wheel assembly (41, 42, 43). In this arrangement, when the device (40) is rolled over the substrate a first foot of said set of ground engaging feet (44) contacts the substrate between axial width limits that differ from axial width limits of a second foot of said set of ground engaging feet (44).

The grooves (7) are open at least toward the outer circumferential surface (6) with a respective opening width (16) that spans an angle .alpha. of at most 5.degree., and are undercut radially inwardly below the openings.

Abstract: An electrophotographic type image forming device having a developing roller and a photosensitive drum. A nip portion is provided therebetween for supplying developing agents from the developing roller to the photosensitive drum. The developing roller and the photosensitive drum are rotated in the same rotational direction, i.e, a peripheral moving direction of the developing roller is opposite to peripheral moving direction of the photosensitive drum at the nip portion, so that toners provide vivid mobility at or adjacent the nip portion so as to cancel Van der Waals attraction force, and so that the toners can be attracted to the photosensitive drum only by applied electrical field. Developing is performed immediately upstream of the nip portion in rotational direction of the developing roller, and residual toners are collected by the developing roller immediately downstream of the nip portion for collecting and reusing the residual toners.

  • Patent number: 5862447
Abstract: A digital copier is designed to minimize image imperfections by limiting pickup of contaminants by an image carrier. Paper sheets are conveyed to an image transfer area by use of a conveyor unit. The conveyor unit includes paper feed rollers. The image transfer area includes the image carrier and a transfer roller. The paper sheets pass between the image carrier and the transfer roller. When no paper sheets are in the image transfer area, the transfer roller is in contact with the image carrier. The transfer rollers and the paper feed rollers include a rubber material with a solubility parameter chosen to minimize transfer of contaminants to the image carrier. In one example, the transfer roller and the paper feed roller are formed from a rubber material having a solubility parameter greater than or equal to 8.2 (cal/cm.sup.3).sup.1/2. To further minimize imperfections in the image due to pickup of contaminants, the rubber material of the paper feed member has a dielectric constant greater than or equal to 4.

  • Patent number: 5754913
Abstract: In a system for transporting film materials, rotation of the transported film caused by uneven stress across a width of the film is eliminated by providing a pinch roll drive in which the driven roll is a precision metal roll and the non-driven roll is a rubber roll, the outer cylindrical surface of which is defined by a plurality of axially-spaced annular ribs. Accumulated error is removed at regular intervals by braking the film to cause correction of slippage. Feed under uniform stress is achieved by forming a dancer roll film loop and correcting for differential alignment of the various transport rolls by displacing a portion of one side of the loop.
