Abstract: In a composite roll for manufacturing heat transfer tubes that has two or more grooving rolls having protrusions where at least one of cross sectional shapes, lead angles relative to a rotation direction and sizes is different, by coaxially combining the rolls to form multiple types of grooves on a surface of metallic strips by pressing against the metallic strips, the composite roll for manufacturing heat transfer tubes of the present invention is characterized in that the two or more grooving rolls are joined in one body in a mutually surface contacting state. It is also preferable that the two or more grooving rolls are joined by diffusion bonding.

Abstract: A cleaning sponge roller is made of a polyvinyl acetal-based porous sponge having elasticity in a wet state and comprises a generally cylindrical roll body and a plurality of protrusions molded integrally on the periphery of the roll body. The cleaning sponge roller rotatingly cleans a material to be cleaned by contacting the top portions of the protrusions with the surface of the material and brushing off polishing residues found on the surface of the material. Each of the protrusions has a tapered protruding base portion extending from the periphery of the roll body, and a protruding end portion having almost the same sectional shape from the top end surface of the protruding base portion to the top portion.

Abstract: A roller for grasping a log for axial movement or rotation of a log, the roller including spike bar retainers fastened on the cylindrical surface of the roller. The spike bar retainers accept and retain replaceable spike bars, thus facilitating replacement of worn spikes, which may be replaced without removal of the roller. The spike bars formed of alloy steel feature an improved type of spike having planar side surfaces that converge to a pointed end. The improved spikes grip and hold logs at lower average pressures over an extended period of use than conventional conical spikes.

  • Patent number: 6482140
Abstract: A roller is structured so that one or a plurality of grooves are recessed on an outer peripheral surface of an outer race in a bearing, a part of a synthetic resin tire integrally adhered to the outer race of the bearing is inserted and welded within a groove on the outer peripheral surface of the outer race in the bearing, whereby a firmer adhesion force can be obtained. Accordingly, a more firmly adhered fitting body is prevented from being peeled off from the outer race of the bearing and the tire and the outer race of the bearing are prevented from separately racing even when the bearing is exposed to a heavy load and rotates at a high speed, that is, the roller is adhered so as to prevent the tire and the bearing from rotating relative to each other.

The roller has an outer cylindrical surface, and a pattern of dimpled recesses in the cylindrical surface receive glue and apply that glue to the closure flaps prior to folding the closure flaps against the assembled cigarette pack. The glue is applied in an efficient and economical manner, and substantially less glue is required when compared to existing glue applicator constructions.

Abstract: A conditioner roll includes a cylindrical, tubular metal core having four, straight metal flutes, in the form of channel members, extending full length of, and releasably attached to, the core. In one embodiment, each flute is attached by a plurality of bolts extending radially outwardly through and anchored in respective holes provided in the core, the bolts being respectively received in a plurality of holes provided in the flute. A nut is received on a threaded exposed end of each bolt so as to clamp the flute in place. Access holes are provided for permitting installation of the bolts. In a second embodiment, swage nuts are respectively anchored in mounting holes provided in the core for locating each flute, the nuts having been deformed axially, during installation of the flute mounting bolts, to form shoulders located interiorly of the core wall so as to that the nuts stay in place as the bolts are tightened against the flute.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a labeling apparatus for paying out and applying self-adhesive labels, which with each operating cycle moves one self-adhesive label into a dispensing position underneath an applicator roll having a sleeve with a cylindrical jacket, via which sleeve the applicator roll is rotatably mounted on a hub. It is proposed to equip the sleeve with at least one profiled ring projecting radially outwardly beyond the cylindrical jacket. Because the profiled ring and the sleeve are made preferably of a material that is harder than the cylindrical jacket and hence ink-repellent, the printed data on the label are not smeared, in spite of the low outlay involved in the manufacture of the applicator roll.
