  • Patent number: 8555946
Abstract: Disclosed is a apparatus for manufacturing pole-piece pockets, comprising a framework, an pole-piece supplying assembly, an pole-piece transporting and regulating assembly, a vertically thermal-welding assembly, a transversely thermal-welding assembly, a film clamping and drawing assembly, and a film cutting assembly for cutting the films. The vertically thermal-welding assembly comprises a press welding cutter having two blades for simultaneously welding the two lateral edges of the pole-piece pocket. The transversely thermal-welding assembly comprises a first thermal welding cutter for welding the base of the pole-piece pocket and a second thermal welding cutter for welding the opening of the pole-piece pocket. The press welding cutter has two blades so that the two lateral edges of a pole-piece pocket can be welded in just one welding operation. Thus, the parallelity and welding consistency of the welding joints can be ensured.

A transverse force mechanism applies oppositely directed transverse forces to a second pair of opposed flaps of the gabled end of the carton as the longitudinal force mechanism moves from the first position to the second position. The transverse force mechanism urges the second pair of opposed flaps toward one another during movement of the longitudinal force mechanism. The file elements are hot-sealed together and to the covers. The covers each have an auxiliary sheet hot-sealed to the cover body. The outermost file elements are hot-sealed to the auxiliary sheets of the covers. Thus, no dents or recesses are formed on the cover by hot-sealing the outermost file elements to the respective covers.

  • Patent number: 4753629
Abstract: An improved thermoplastic film heat bonding apparatus includes a heated seal bar, a support member supporting the heated seal bar for reciprocating motion against a platen and a resilient coupling between the support member and the heated seal bar to allow deflection of the heated seal bar with respect to the support member providing better conformance between the platen and the face of the seal bar contacting the platen for more uniform and repeatable heat seals. Springs are used to provide the resilient coupling between the support member and the heated seal bar. One mounting providing both resilient coupling and continuous adjustable spacing between the support member and the heated seal bar includes a bracket supporting a threaded member passed through the support member and a coil spring biasing the bracket and support member apart. The bracket is itself resiliently mounted to the heated seal bar also by compression coil springs.

Abstract: An easy open and reclosable bag has flexible sheet walls sealed together to form a pouch. A separable reclosure tie is located adjacent one of those seals. The reclosure tie is composed of extensions of the bag walls which have an integral channel-shaped molding spaced from that seal. A line of specially shaped, closely spaced apart perforations through the bag walls extends between the molding and the one seal to permit the reclosure tie to be separated from the pouch-defining walls of the bag. Apparatus for making the easy open and reclosable bag is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4650452
Abstract: A rigid, hollow cylindrical insert is designed to be located and to remain in the end portion of a deformable plastic tube. The end portion of the tube is situated between thin film layers with the insert aligned with an edge to be sealed. The assembly is placed between the mating pressure dies to be welded. In a single operation, the edges of the layers are sealed to form a pouch as the tube end portion is welded to the layers along the seam at the top of the pouch. The insert supports the tube end portion in a non-deformed state during welding. This permits an effective weld to be obtained with tubes of various structures and, particularly, very soft tubes such as ones with thin walls composed of polyvinylchloride.

  • Patent number: 4553377
Abstract: For producing transverse seams on tube bag machines, two conjointly, oppositely moving sealing tool jaws (15, 16) are provided, which are movable on a carriage (6) during the sealing process. For driving the sealing tool and selecting an appropriate stroke length, the frame (5) on which the carriage (6) rests is movable up and down by a pair of coupled cam-actuated levers (19). The axes of rotation (34) of two levers (19), and thus the distances travelled by their uncoupled, flapping ends, are adjustable along the lengths of the levers. This is accomplished by turning a spindle (3) bearing oppositely wound screw threads, which sets adjustment bodies (30) with sliding blocks (4) for the two-armed levers (19).Thus, packages of varying heights can be efficiently sealed, since the sealing mechanism always seals in the middle of the package height, regardless of stroke length selected.

  • Patent number: 4546592
Abstract: Apparatus for sealing a liquid package made of paper coated with plastic on at least one surface including a pair of extending fingers that can be inserted in the open end of the package to flatten the top edges thereof into a single strip; a pair of welding jaws to seal the top folded seam strip; and drive mechanisms to operate the fingers and jaws. Each extending finger is flat at its engaging end with the package, the narrow edges of which are rounded in cross section, with its longitudinal axis initially perpendicular to the top of the folded seam strip. The fingers are driven down and out to flatten the top edges and form an elongated seam strip whereafter the welding jaws, driven synchronously with the movement of the fingers, seal and strip the seam strip off the extending fingers.

  • Patent number: 4484977
Abstract: In the manufacture of packing containers of the non-returnable type for, e.g., milk, the forming and closing of the ridgelike top of the filled packing container represents the final phase in the manufacture. The top is provided with sealing panels which are intended jointly to form a top fin on the closed packing container. The present invention relates to an arrangement for the processing of a packing container by compressing and sealing the top fin of the container. The arrangement includes two processing jaws which are movably suspended in spring elements and are movable symmetrically between an active position wherein the jaws contact the sealing fin and an inactive position wherein the jaws are spaced from the sealing fin.

  • Patent number: 4423583
Abstract: Flexible pouches filled with product are gripped at their side margins by bag clamps and are advanced to a steaming station where steam is directed downwardly toward the pouches to drive air therefrom. As the steam is being introduced into each pouch, the pouch is held in a widely open position by the clamps. Thereafter, the pouch is closed by shifting one clamp away from the other clamp and then is sealed by heated sealing bars. To enable a substantially wrinkle-free top seal to be formed, each clamp includes upper and lower jaws which grip the pouch above and below the bottom margin of the top seal to keep the seal area tight.
