  • Patent number: 11123946
Abstract: A pleated filter preparation system is provided for accurately counting pleats along a continuous sheet of pleated filter material and cutting the sheet into filter strips to be formed into filters. The pleated filter preparation system includes a pleat driver having multiple drive gears that engage with the pleats of the pleated filter material to move the pleated filter material through the system. A pleat counter counts peaks and valleys of each pleat comprising the pleated filter material so as to identify a target pleat to be cut. The pleat counter clamps and stretches the target pleat to distinguish the target pleat among the other pleats. A punch cut station cuts the target pleat to form a filter strip having a desired number of pleats. A pleat compressor compresses the filter strips to a predetermined size and then ejects the filter strips into a suitable container or bin.

Abstract: A drum covering for a drive drum (21) in a corrugating machine has a textile carrier material that reversibly shrinks when heated up, said carrier material being coated on at least one side with a coating material. Furthermore, it has two rectangular regions (71, 72) that are each connected to a convexly deltoid-shaped region (6) on a narrow side. Sets for producing the drum covering contain several covering pieces. A drive drum provided with the drum covering can be produced by the central axis (M) of the convexly deltoid-shaped region (6) being arranged along the circumferential central axis of the drive drum (21). Then, the convexly deltoid-shaped region (6) is fixed on the drive drum surface by means of at least one fixing element. The drive drum (21) is rotated, wherein the rectangular regions (71, 72) of the drum covering are wound around the drive drum (21) in a spiral-shaped manner.

Abstract: A filter media in which larger corrugations are impressed or embossed onto media that has been previously corrugated with standard corrugations. This construction greatly increases the beam strength of a resulting pleat that allows the channels to remain open during processing into the pleated media, and prevents buckling of the media duping gathering on current pleating equipment. In addition, once the media is pleated, the larger corrugations or embossments, combined with the standard corrugations, create large channels for fluid flow from pleat tip to the base of the pleat.

Abstract: In an automatic filling and closing process for flexible package in which a film is supplied while being longitudinally fused, and the respective steps of filling the longitudinally fused film with contents, laterally fusing the film and cutting the laterally fused area are performed, a slit or a hole is intermittently formed in the supplied film, at a site from unwinding of the film to the longitudinal fusing, during interruption of the supply of the film in the steps of lateral fusing and cutting, and an opening fusing tape is placed over the slit or hole to weld around the perimeter of the slit or hole, thereby obtaining a tape-sealed bag which is easily openable in an opening direction approximately parallel with the laterally fused area.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an improved, cylindrical, paperboard collar for placing around a specialty sandwich such as a multilayer hamburger or such. The collar blank is cut from flat paperboard stock in the form of an elongated rectangle which is folded back over itself having its free ends adhesively attached to one another whereby the resulting flat preform may be expandingly opened to form a cylindrical configuration. Two tongue like locking tabs are cut into the paperboard surface which when the preform is expanded to form an upright cylinder the tabs act to maintain the open cylinder.

Abstract: The embossing process is effected between a pair of embossing rollers provided with toothings of the same kind which comprise rows of pyramidal teeth extending in the axial and the circumferential directions. Compared to the theoretical pyramid shape, the heads of the teeth are flattened while the edges of the pyramids are cut. The rollers, which are mutually displaceable in the axial direction, are thus able to catch in a stable mutual position of maximum penetration and to remain in this position in operation. This allows a safe mutual synchronization of the rollers and an optimal embossing of any kind of materials, especially of paper foils.

  • Patent number: 5385527
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for preparing cylindrical members for paper containers having a thermoplastic resin layer as the innermost layer by cylindrically forming a preform sheet made up of a laminate comprising at least a paper layer and the thermoplastic resin layer, the laminate is arranged so that the thermoplastic layer becomes the innermost layer of the paper containers and is selected from the group consisting of polyesters and ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymers. The method includes the steps of folding the innermost layer along one edge of the preform sheet back over itself, irradiating the folded edge and another edge of the preform sheet both of which are made of the thermoplastic resin layer of polyesters or ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymers using a carbon dioxide gas laser irradiation, thereby softening or melting the thermoplastic resin layer, overlapping the irradiated edges, and pressing the overlapped portion to seal the thermoplastic resin layers together.

  • Patent number: 4934227
Abstract: A device for cutting a support helix for a radially expanded sleeve of resilient material which may be used as an enclosure of an elongate object such as an electrical cable. The device includes a knife wheel having a plurality of circumferentially distributed, radially projecting knives for making elongate spaced cuts through the wall of a plastic tube. The plastic tube and the knife wheel are rotated and moved axially relative to each other to cause the knife wheel to make a helical pattern of elongate spaced cuts through the wall of the plastic tube along the entire length of the plastic tube. One end portion of the helix is separated from the helix into a strip extending from one end of the helix through the support helix and out of the other end thereof where it may be manually grasped. The connection areas between the spaced cuts are dimensioned so that the support helix can be manually unwound by pulling on the end portion extending through the support helix.
