  • Patent number: 11891263
Abstract: An interfolding machine produces interfolded sheets according to an interfolding configuration and, starting from a web of paper provides a feeding section, which applies a tension on the web and moves the same along a feeding direction feeding the same to a cutting section, in which the web of paper is cut into a series of sheets at a cutting point between a cutting roller and a counter-cutting element. Downstream of the cutting section, a folding section includes a first and a second folding rollers counter-rotating with respect to each other. The first and second folding rollers rotate about respective rotation axes with a first peripheral velocity vP, and fold, at a folding zone, a plurality of sheets in a plurality of panels and form the stack of interfolded sheets. The cutting roller alternately distributes the aforementioned sheets between a transfer roller and the first folding roller.

Abstract: Point needles in a conveying cylinder of a rotary press are caused to follow a curve course which securely fastens a web to the cylinder while eliminating transport damage to the printed products as well as reducing paper waste. The needle tips of the point needles are moved along their path by the superimpositioning of two pivot movements, one of which is accomplished by a point holder arm and the second of which is accomplished by a rocker. The two cooperate to form a level four member swivel joint.

Abstract: The folding blade spindle of a folding drum is rotatably driven by a single drive train that utilizes only one gear drive pair. The folding drum itself is rotated by a separate drive assembly. The use of only one gear drive pair for the folding blade spindle drive substantially reduces play in the folding blade and promotes accurate folding of printed products.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for producing at least two 4-page signatures (340) and an apparatus for producing at least one 16-page signature (460). The signatures are produced by folding and cutting sheets cut from a continuous web in a folding machine (500 or 600). The apparatus of the present invention provides a selectable blade device which folds or folds and cuts sheets being processed in the device. When placed in the fold and cut position, the apparatus is capable of producing at least two 4-page signatures (340) or at least one 16-page signature (460) without the need for a final off-line trimming step.

Abstract: A tearing-off roller pair, for tearing off sections or strips divided by perforation cuts from a material web, consists of a first roller with a substantially smooth steel shell and, applied against it, a second roller with a resilient body set into it for increasing the contact pressure, which resilient body projects above its peripheral surface in its unstressed state. To allow a greater retaining force to be exerted on the sections to be torn off, several of the resilient bodies are set in a recess along a cylindrical surface of the second roller.

  • Patent number: 4976677
Abstract: Process for the production of filters whose active filtering part is made up of a folded filter material web, preferably made from paper, which folded web is delimited in the process by side edges at which the folds terminate, and end edges at which a first or last fold is located, so that in this way filter units (49) are formed. The filter units (49) are produced in an automatized process in which the filter material web is creased and pushed together to form the folds. The spacings between the folds are maintained constant by means of a screw element with threads pushing down between the folds and forming spacing elements between these. The screw element is rotataed during forward movement of the folded web. Glue-coated strips are pressed onto the said side edges of the web, so that the ends of the folds are covered over by the strips.
