The tent body, which is of unitary construction, is comprised of two separate compartments, an upper bed compartment, enclosed by a canopy being of an umbrella arrangement, and a lower storage compartment. Both compartments are accessible from the outside of the tent through openings in the tent body. These openings can be close by a cloth closure, such as a flap, and a screen flap which may be fastened about the opening by some fastener, such as a zipper. The frame is constructed of a plurality of telescopic tubular sections. The tent body is suspended from the frame by fasteners located about the periphery of the bed compartment at each of the four corners. This suspension of the tent body permits the weight of the bed compartment to be distributed to the frame, providing adequate support for the user. The tent body is also pulled taut and fastened to the frame at each corner about the periphery of the bottom of the storage compartment.

  • Patent number: 5113537
Abstract: A portable sleeping unit for children includes a collapsible frame and a hammock supported thereby. The hammock comprises plural fabric panels sewn together along their edges, with a stay embedded in each seam, and a slide fastener for interconnecting the two topmost panels to close the unit. The hammock is loosely suspended from the frame by straps extending from either end, so that when a child is placed inside the hammock, its weight bows the lower stays doenward, and the remaining stays bow generally outward to tension the hammock panels and produce a generally football-shaped enclosure.

  • Patent number: 5108065
Abstract: A suspension framework for a chair or piece of sleeping furniture, which is able to oscillate, is comprised of a support member 13, 22 which is connected to the sitting or sleeping surface and arranged on both sides thereof, and which is connected with a base support member 1, 26 via rope-type pendulums 5, 6, 11, 24. At least two rope-type pendulums engage the support member on each side thereof. This will enable, in a system having satisfactory stability characteristics, a high degree of sensitivity in response to very minute movements of the human body or under oscillating conditions occurring in the human body that is seemingly at rest.

  • Patent number: 5097546
Abstract: A biaxial rocking swinging hammock frame is comprised of two bipods for supporting a hammock with two connecting rope-like ends. The first bipod has an apex adapted for securing one connecting end of the hammock thereto and a foot upon which the bipod pivots along a first bipod pivot axis. The second bipod has an apex opposing the apex of the first bipod. The second bipod apex is adapted for securing the other connecting end of the hammock to suspend the hammock. The second bipod has a foot upon which the second bipod pivots along a second bipod pivot axis. Link means connect the feet for locating and holding the foot and pivot axis of the first bipod below the second bipod and the foot and pivot axis of the second bipod below the first bipod.

  • Patent number: 5097545
Abstract: An infant cradle comprising a support stand and a hammock that is suspended from the support stand. The support stand has a ground engaging base member, an upright member extending upwardly at an inclined angle in relation to the base member and a support member that extends away from the upright member. A spring is suspended from the support member, and in turn a hammock is suspended from the lower end of the spring. The hammock comprises a loop of sheet material which is gathered at the point where it is suspended from the spring. Second gathers are formed at either side of the spring, and the hammock is spread by a spreader bar that extends between the second gathers so as to hold the hammock open as it hangs from the spring. The upright member is inclined such that the hammock hangs substantially over the center of the base member.
