  • Patent number: 5003652
Abstract: A collapsible, self-supporting, fully portable hammock assembly in which the supporting framework is fabricated of light weight metal components. The apparatus can be quickly and easily extended from a compact, collapsible configuration into a self-supporting highly stable structure which safely carries the hammock. When the apparatus is in its folded configuration, it is mounted on a wheeled base assembly which permits easy transport of the collapsed apparatus from place to place.

  • Patent number: 4975994
Abstract: A hammock and a frame wherein the frame has a keel like shaped flexible beam formed by telescopically joined elements and sticklike supporting beam legs. The joint of the beam legs to the beam is accomplished by a bag attached to the frame having a pocket into which the end of a beam leg is inserted. The keel like shape of the frame operates so that overtensioning the flexible beam causes it to deform and function as a safety device. With such deformation of the frame, the user is lowered toward the ground.

  • Patent number: 4958391
Abstract: This invention relates to a swaying bed suppport, while such supports are known they either have a massive base structure or require fixing to the ground or floor. The swaying bed support of the invention comprises two end supports and a lower linking assembly, the bed itself is generally conventional and suspended from the end frames by chains, ropes and the like. The linking assembly and end supports are detachably secured to each other so they can be readily dismantled for movement between rooms and residences. The lower linking assembly can itself be dismantlable. This frame is sufficiently rigid to enable the bed to sway without distorting the frame. Optionally an upper linking assembly may be present, which may be two parallel arched members joined by cross pieces, which may be used to hold a canopy, or it may be two diagonal arched members meeting at a cross piece. The upper linking assembly is desirably detachable and disassemblable.

  • Patent number: 4951332
Abstract: A hammock cot having a frame formed of a pair of U-shaped leg sets. A cradle has a center piece coupled to a rotatable bearing on the center part of each leg set. An end piece of the cradle which angles upwardly is also coupled to each bearing and each end of the hammock is fastened to the free end of a cradle end piece. A load on the hammock deflects each cradle end piece downwardly causing the bearings to rotate and bow upwardly the cradle center piece thereby reducing the force applied to the leg sets.

  • Patent number: 4925138
Abstract: A collapsible hammock stand comprises a main body frame having a pair of opposed frame sections, each such section having a longitudinally extending upper rail interconnected with a pair of parallel spaced lower rails, the sections being pivotally interconnected at inner ends of their lower rails to permit pivotal movement between open and closed positions. A pair of support arms, each of which is also pivotal between open and closed position is also provided. A pair of support legs removably connectable with outer ends of the frame sections provides upright support for the stand when the frame sections are in their open position and a pair of coupling means removably connectable with upper ends of the support arms is provided for holding a hammock between the support arms.
