  • Publication number: 20130239324
Abstract: A bedding foundation used to support a mattress has a mechanism therein for moving the mattress between inclined and flat positions. The foundation combines desirable features of conventional non-adjustable bed bases and adjustable bed bases. A wire assembly and a motorized lift assembly comprising a motorized drive mechanism may be secured to a base of the foundation. The motorized lift assembly pivots a lifter which has two curved portions which function to raise and lower a deck board to incline and lower the mattress. If desired, a second motorized lift assembly may be incorporated into a bedding foundation for use with another deck board.

  • Patent number: 8020224
Abstract: An internal corner structures for mattress foundations that sit at each corner between the frame and the grid. The rigid member contains a base, body and grid support deck. The base member sits atop the foundation frame and contains two flanges that overlap the frame and guide the positioning of the internal corner structure relative to the frame. The body structure supports the grid deck and has a rounded exterior profile to provide a rounded smooth contour to the mattress foundation corners, and has a plurality of square shaped openings that extend in both a vertical and horizontal direction. The grid support deck sits atop the body structure and provides support to the mattress foundation grid, and has engagement clips that engage and position the grid and an edge guard that functions to disperse a load and protect the engagement clips from impact.

  • Patent number: 6687929
Abstract: A box spring corner guard is disclosed which protects and reinforces the corner of a box spring. The box spring corner guard consists of a curved body having the shape of a 90 degree section of an imaginary cylinder with a concave inner surface and a convex outer surface. A locator flange extends from the concave inner surface adjacent the bottom end of the curved body. Strengthening ribs run along the length of the curved body to add rigidity. In one embodiment, the curved body also has a limit flange, similar to the locator flange, extending from the concave inner surface adjacent the top end of the curved body. The curved body is attached to the base of the box spring, but the curved body is not attached to the border wire.

  • Patent number: 5878455
Abstract: A corner guard for reinforcing an edge or corner of a mattress of a bed is disclosed. The corner guard is constructed from a flat sheet of material formed into two flat panels intersecting to define a 90 degree primary angle, wherein the panels together further define interior areas facing the mattress and exterior areas facing away from the mattress. Each panel has a tab extending therefrom at right angles toward the interior. Each tab also has a fin extending therefrom toward the primary angle. Fastener openings are provided in each fin and tab. At the intersection of the base of each fin, tab, and panel is a circular cut-out. The corner guard can be punched and formed from metal or molded from polymer.

  • Patent number: 5628080
Abstract: A protective and decorative mattress foundation curved corner guard is mold formed in a curved configuration with a wall portion of the guard having a radius of curvature approximately equal to a radius of curvature of rounded corners of a mattress foundation to which the corner guard is to be attached. Raised areas in the form of indicia are mold formed to protrude from a front surface of the curved wall. Edges of the raised areas are bevelled to allow mold pieces to be withdrawn from the front surface of the curved wall without damage to the molded guard. When mold formed of a suitable plastic material, the curved corner guard, including the curved wall and raised indicia thereon, can be metal plated and polished.

  • Patent number: 5265291
Abstract: An improved spring is provided which may be used in cushions, mattresses, or box springs which includes a limiting internal member. This limiting member assist in limiting the longitudinal deflection of the springs. Also provided are snapped-fitting connections between the spring and a grid for use within a box spring. Also provided is a "floating" portion of a peripheral border wire, particularly suitable for use in a pair of box springs beneath a king-size mattress unit. Also provided is a corner guard which provided support for upholstered fabric on a box spring. Finally, an improved borderwireless mattress using a peripheral band is provided, which allows the mattress to bend more easily, without disadvantageous setting of its border wires.
