One of the articulated support sections is a seat support inclined relative to the horizontal plane when the chair is in the seated position and substantially in the horizontal plane when the chair is in the sleeping position.

Abstract: A convertible furniture system or futon includes a convertible frame assembly that is mountable in an interior space and is deployable between a bench configuration and a flat, bed configuration. The frame assembly includes a back frame and a bottom frame that are pivotably coupled together and coordinate to form either the bench configuration that provides a user an upright seat or the bed configuration that provides the user a flat, substantially horizontal bed to lie down on. A user can maneuver the system from the bench configuration into the bed configuration and vice versa. The system may include an actuator, such as a spring mechanism or motorized linear actuator. The system includes various support elements mounted to upright walls and the support elements may be selectively engaged to support the system in the bed or bench configurations and during deployment and stowage of the system.

Abstract: Innovative mechanism for a divan bed enabling the adjustment in three positions, said “divan”, “relax” and “bed”, comprising padding elements supported by two frames; said frames can reciprocally move by means of two angle-bars, concurrent in a point; one of said angle-bars supports the frame forming the seat of the divan bed and the second one supports the frame forming the back of the divan bed; moreover comprising an articulated quadrilateral which supports said second angle-bar. The mechanism is characterised in that the angle-bars constitute a release mechanism which enables the three positions, stable respect to the divan bed base, while the quadrilater stiffly moves the angle-bars in other three positions. Therefore, the main feature of the mechanism is the univocal positioning between the angle-bars and the quadrilateral elements, without any other additional element as, for example, stop elements like ratchet or pawl.

Abstract: A multi-angle hook fastened to an extension member, that is used to stop the extension from completely pulling out of the frame it sits in. When fully extended, the multi-angle hook allows at least three different holding positions, seen as three different angles that the extension sits at while using the multi-angle hook as its fixed point of pivot. The multi-angle hook is a metal, plastic, or wood plate bent along several parallel lines, across its width, at varying angles. An L-shaped hinge which is used to secure a side rail-less frame member to another frame member, to avoid undue stress on the side rail-less frame member. The L-shaped hinge is a metal, plastic, or wood plate which substantially conforms to a portion of a side rail-less frame member.

Abstract: An article of furniture is provided which can be transformed easily from a bed to a futon or a chaise lounge. The article of furniture is formed of a stationary, generally U-shaped upright support having a head frame with opposing ends from which side frames extend in mutual parallel alignment. A base frame assembly is mounted upon wheels or other roller elements and is comprised of a plurality or articulated frames, including a seat bench frame located remote from the head frame of the stationary support, and at least an intermediate seat back frame hinged to the bench frame. Preferably, a proximal back frame is also provided which includes within its structure a backrest that may be raised or lowered when the unit is used as a chaise lounge. The article of furniture is provided with rollers on each side of the stationary support near the distal extremities thereof. Cam latches are provided on opposing sides of the seat frame in longitudinal alignment with the rollers.

Abstract: A hinge assembly is mounted on a rail supported above a floor by two legs to support one end of a sofa/bed. A like hinge assembly is mounted the same way at the other end of the sofa/bed. The hinge assemblies include side rails supporting front and rear sofa frame members. Each hinge assembly combines front and rear pivot arms supporting a seat bracket, a backrest bracket and an intermediate hinge plate. A latch arm is pivoted to the seat bracket and received through a loop fastened on the intermediate hinge plate and on which a stop is provided. The latch arm is spring biased against the stop and includes a notch receivable in the stop to latch the arm. A latch dog is provided in the arm and which can be toggled between a position enabling latching of the arm against the stop, and a position enabling release of the arm from the stop.
