  • Patent number: 5904406
Abstract: A foam-core fabric-covered headrest snaps in place over the top tube of the frame of any of a wide variety of lawn or beach furniture. The core is a resilient foam cylinder into which is cut or molded a radially directed longitudinal slit leading to a cylindrical axial channel. A cylindrically looped one-piece fabric shell covers the side surface of the foam core--slit, channel and all. Preferably, a tether is provided with which to secure the device to the chair frame. The tether prevents accidental dislodging of the device while the chair is being transported. It also tends to discourage theft and other forms of inadvertent loss.

  • Patent number: 5839138
Abstract: An adjustable cushioned pillow includes a set of cover panels, preferably circular, forming a closed volume, which is packed with a filler material. A sleeve with a hollow interior is disposed in a loop, also preferably circular, on one of the cover panels. The sleeve contains one or more openings allowing access to the sleeve's hollow interior. A drawstring having two ends is threaded through the sleeve's hollow interior with each end of the string protruding from one of the sleeve's openings. The pillow is adjusted for firmness by pulling the ends of the drawstring together with one hand while holding the pillow with the other hand or by pulling the ends of the drawstring in opposite directions. When the drawstring is pulled, the sleeve constricts and reduces the surface area of the cover panel on which the sleeve is located. In turn, the reduction of surface area reduces the volume of the pillow, compressing the filler material and increasing the firmness of the pillow.

  • Patent number: 5802637
Abstract: An improved dust ruffle or fabric skirt design is provided, which is readily placeable about and removable from a bed or other structures in the home. The skirt comprises an elongated fabric sleeve having a first end and a second end and includes an outer fabric wall and an inner fabric wall. The fabric walls define an elongated passage in which an elongated elastic tape member is received intermediate the two walls. The tape member is elasticized in order to provide, when stretched and in place around a box spring or other structure, an inwardly directed force against the inner fabric wall in order that the skirt or ruffle can be fixed in place on a bedding assembly, a furniture piece, or some other home fixture. The tape member may be removed from the passageway of the fabric sleeve before washing or laundering the skirt or dust ruffle.

  • Patent number: 5193238
Abstract: A support pillow in two detachable main sections, each section having an elongated right triangular wedge-shaped resilient foam member each covered with fabric with a portion of the fabric extending outward to define a flexible rectangular panel. The top surface of one rectangular panel, and the bottom surface of the other rectangular panel are affixed with elongated hook and loop fastening strips which allow adjustable overlapping affixment of the two rectangular panels one to another, thereby allowing affixing together of the two main sections of the pillow. When affixed together, the two sections of the support pillow define an open-ended and open-top channel with the rectangular panels and fabric covered foam members providing a roll-preventing flat bottom, and the fabric covered foam members additionally defining two spaced apart vertically oriented side walls of the channel.

  • Patent number: 5184362
Abstract: The appearance of a pillow case is changed to make the pillow case more aesthetically pleasing for a child's use. Preferably, this is accomplished by forming a pillow case from a first sheet and a second sheet comprised of cloth material. A three-dimensional figure, such as a front portion of a stuffed teddy bear, is then attached to the outside surface of the first sheet by sewn stitching. This creates a pillow case that is more pleasing for a child's use as a conventional pillow case, comforter, security object and plaything.

  • Patent number: 5163192
Abstract: A sunbathing mat having a removably attachable inflatable headrest for use on a beach or while visiting a pool. The mat further includes an elongated washable, moisture-absorbent fabric piece. A top portion of the fabric piece is foldable over an intermediate portion of the fabric piece and is releasably attachable in this position to form a flap for enclosing the headrest. A plurality of supple, noncorrosive, nonabrasive straps mate and secure the headrest in the enclosed posture. An alternative mat includes loops and mating stakes. The loops are fixed to the four corners of the sun bathing mat and the mating stakes are insertable into and through each one of the four loops and into a supporting surface to anchor each one of the four corners of the mat to the supporting surface. The mat may also be provided with a plurality of binding cords which enable the user to bind the mat in a small compass. The mat contains no pockets to trap sand or other foreign substances.

  • Patent number: 5157799
Abstract: A pillowcase for a king size bed pillow is provided with a releasable fastener, such as a zipper, that extends along adjacent long sides of the fabric layers forming the pillowcase. Since a pair of the short sides of the fabric layers are always open, the layers may be separated along at least two adjacent sides to facilitate insertion and removal of a pillow between the layers. The sides of the layers opposite the open end of the pillowcase may also be secured by a releasable fastener, such as an elongated, L-shaped zipper so that the layers may be separated along three sides and opened like a book to receive a pillow. By employing a releasable fastener along at least one of the long pair of adjacent sides of the pillowcase layers, the task of inserting a pillow into the pillowcase is greatly facilitated.

Abstract: A miniature portable support pillow construction having a generally smooth outer contoured similar to a barbell, i.e., generally cylindrical and enlarged at each end. The pillow is only about four to five inches in diameter and about nine to ten inches long for ease of transport. The illustrated pillow has an inner body made of a soft resilient material such as (fiberfill) material formed in the barbell shape. The pillow further has a removal outer cover that is made of flexible material and surrounds and conforms to the shape of the body. The cover is made from a plurality of elongated contoured strips of flexible material that are stitched to one another to form the cover. Two of the strips have overlapping unstitched band portions that form an entrance/exit for the cover. A fastener such as interlocking "Velcro" strips may be secured to the band portions to releasably lock the entrance closed.
