Having Manipulable Fastening Means Patents (Class 5/496)
  • Patent number: 4899408
Abstract: A bedding attachment system especially for use with a baby crib. The system includes a coverlet adapted to be disposed about top, head foot and side panels and at least the peripheral edges of the top and bottom panels of a mattress. The coverlet includes an upper peripheral edge disposed about the perimeter of the top panel and terminating in a pair of opposing upper and lower flaps having inner and outer surface areas. It further includes a base sheet attached to the lower flap and having an area substantially co-extensive with and overlying the top panel. Flexible fastening devices such as the well known hook and loop arrangements are disposed upon the inner surface of the opposing flaps for detachably securing the flaps to a cover sheet. The flaps are adapted to releasably secure the peripheral edge of the cover sheet and hold it in an overlying relationship to the base sheet.

  • Patent number: 4862541
Abstract: A device for attaching a sheet to a mattress comprises an elongate, inextensible strap having first and second opposite ends. The strap is positionable under the mattress across a corner thereof with the first and second opposite ends projecting beyond the two edges respectively. A first fastener is attachable to the strap at the first end thereof and comprises a plate member and a stud. The plate member has two opposite sides and is formed with an elongate opening extending therethrough. The opening has two regions, one of which is narrower than the other. The stud has a base portion, a head portion and a neck portion. The neck portion connects the base portion and the head portion. The base portion is sized to pass through the wider region of the opening, but both the head portion and the base portion are too large to pass through the narrower region. The neck portion is sufficiently narrow to enter the narrower region of the opening. A second fastener is attachable to the strap at the second end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4833744
Abstract: A novel fitted sheet and a novel rigid fixture for holding a corner of the novel sheet in place on a rectangular waterbed mattress. A fixture is positioned adjacent each corner of the mattress with a base portion under the mattress, an upstanding corner portion having a back side against the corner of the mattress and a face side having a fastener member attached thereto, and a spacing portion spacing the face side from the corner of the frame that holds the waterbed mattress. The novel fitted sheet has a mating fastener member on the inside surface of each of its corners. In combination, the novel sheet fits over the mattress and the corner portions of the four (4) fixtures with the fastener members fastened together, holding the novel sheet in place. Because the corners of the mattress are spaced away from the frame, the mattress does not have to be lifted or otherwise manipulated to position the sheet on, or remove the sheet from, the mattress.

  • Patent number: 4727608
Abstract: A fitted bed sheet and a method of making the sheet from a rectangular blank of sheet material are disclosed. Resiliently extensibile strips having catches positioned at predetermined locations along the strips are enclosed within longitudinal, open-ended sheaths extending along opposite marginal edges of the blank. One end of each strip extends out of the open end of the sheath and the other end is anchored to the sheath. The blank is folded inwardly upon itself along fold lines to dispose the sheaths in a spaced-apart, generally parallel relationship on the blank to form laterally opposed double-layered panels. Seams are then formed diagonally across the corners of the panels from adjacent the end of the sheaths to points along the fold lines so that a fitted sheet is formed. When the sheet is placed on a mattress, it is drawn into fitting engagement by pulling on the extended ends of the extensible strips and placing the catches over edges of the open ends of the sheaths.
