  • Publication number: 20130331259
Abstract: The invention is directed to compositions and processes for the production of silica-stabilized ultrafine anatase titanias and which may further comprise tungsten and vanadia. The surface stabilization may be by treatment of the TiO2 particles with a low molecular weight and/or small nanoparticle form of silica such as, in preferred embodiments, a tetra(alkyl)ammonium silicate or silicic acid, which serves to efficiently maintain the anatase phase and prevent crystal growth under severe thermal and hydrothermal conditions, even in the presence of vanadia. The vanadia catalysts produced from the novel titanias have equal or improved catalytic activity for selective catalytic reduction of NOx compared to conventional vanadia supported silica-titania based catalysts. The invention is further directed to diesel emission catalytic devices comprising the novel titania-based catalyst compositions.

  • Patent number: 8598066
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process of preparing of a phosphorus-containing phosphorus-alumina support by a sol-gel method and a cobalt/phosphorus-alumina catalyst where cobalt is supported onto the phosphorus-alumina support as an active ingredient. The phosphorus-alumina support is prepared by a sol-gel method and has wide specific surface area with bimodal pore size distribution and high cobalt dispersion, thereby enabling to increase heat and mass transfer, stabilize the structure by modifying the surface property of alumina and decrease the deactivation rate due to the reduced oxidation of cobalt component during the F-T reaction. When Fischer-Tropsch reaction (F-T) is conducted on the catalyst, the catalyst maintains a superior thermal stability, inhibits the deactivation due to water generation during the F-T reaction and also causes relatively high conversion of carbon monoxide and stable selectivity of liquid hydrocarbons.

Abstract: The present invention relates unique pore structures in nickel supported on alumina with the negligible formation of macropores. Incorporation of additional elements stabilizes the pore structure of the nickel supported on alumina. Additional element(s) were then further added into the nickel-supported materials. These additional element(s) further stabilize the pore structures under heating conditions. The improvements of pore structure stability under heating conditions and negligible presence of macropores limit the sintering of nickel metal to a mechanism of impeded diffusion. The negligible presence of macropores also limits the deposition of alkali metal hydroxide(s)/carbonate(s) on the outer shell of the catalyst pellet in the molten carbonate fuel cells. Both the negligible presence of macropores and improvement in pore structure stability allow for prolonging the catalyst life of these nickel supported on alumina catalysts of the present invention for reforming hydrocarbons.

The composition ratio is x(Ce1-wZrw02):yM:zL:(1-x-y-z)AI203, where Ce1-wZrw02 is the oxygen storage composition with stabilizer Zr02, molar ratio (w) in the range of 0 to about 0.8, and a weight ratio (x) of about 0.05 to about 0.8; M is an interactive promoter for oxygen storage capacity with a weight ratio (y) of 0 to about 0.10; and L is a stabilizer for the support Al203 with weight ratio (z) of from 0 to about 0.10. In some cases, M or L can act as both OSC promoter and thermal stabilizer. The weight percentage range of ceria-zirconia and other metal and rare earth oxides (x+y+z) is from about 5 to about 80% relative to total oxides.

Abstract: Activating supports may be suitably prepared by the following procedure (a) providing a porous mineral oxide support material, (b) treating the support with a phosphorus-containing compound, (c) treating the support from step (b) with an organometallic compound, (d) heating the functionalized support from step (c) under an inert gas and then under an atmosphere comprising oxygen, (e) fluorinating the support with a fluorinating agent, and (f) recovering an activating support. The activating supports are suitable used in combination with single site catalysts for the polymerization of olefins. The supports are most preferably used in combination with metallocene complexes. The preparative route for the activating supports provides for supported polymerization catalyst systems having excellent activities.

Abstract: An aspect of the present invention is a preparation of a magnesium halide support for using as a composition of a catalyst in an olefin polymerization, wherein the magnesium halide support is a solid substance prepared by an aliphatic alcohol non-ionic surfactant, preferably is ethoxylated aliphatic alcohol. Another aspect of the present invention is a method for the preparation of the magnesium halide support for using as the composition of the catalyst in the olefin polymerization comprising the following steps: (a) adding a magnesium halide compound into an organic solvent, and heating; (b) cooling down the mixture from (a) rapidly to the room temperature or lower in the inert organic solvent and the aliphatic alcohol non-ionic surfactant; and (c) washing the magnesium halide with the anhydrous inert organic solvent, and drying, wherein the aliphatic alcohol non-ionic surfactant is ethoxylated aliphatic alcohol.
