  • Publication number: 20090124530
Abstract: This invention relates to the incorporation of single and double emulsions into a cross-linking polysaccharide matrix selected from alginate and carrageenan, particularly when cured in a saline solution. Beading and extrusion were used as encapsulation processes. Particles were obtained containing 54 to 88% oil. The double emulsion is known to deliver rinse conditioner softness to the wash. The problem has been to incorporate it into a matrix that will allow redispersion in the wash. The emulsions incorporated redisperse in the same manner as they did before incorporation. The technology has been tested for a wide range of oils, however, specific combinations of oils and kappa carrageenan yield excellent particles containing high oil levels, which are suitable for incorporation into detergent powders, with good softening performance.

Abstract: A description is given of novel aqueous compositions that soften and condition textiles and other natural and synthetic fibres, which compositions contain surfactants of a non-ionic character and cationic surfactants or esterquats obtained from alkanolamine esters based on the esterification reaction of optionally alkoxylated alkanolamines with dicarboxylic acids and fatty alcohols which are optionally alkoxylated. The mentioned cationic surfactants and esterquats improve the conditioning and softening efficiency of non-ionic surfactants on natural and synthetic fibres so that the softening compositions obtained exhibit a high degree of efficiency in the treatment of fibres, such as textiles, paper and hair, and also facilitate ironing in the case of textile fibres and combing in the case of natural fibres.

  • Patent number: 6680286
Abstract: Liquid detergent compositions, are disclosed, comprising a surfactant and a builder mainly comprised of a quaternary ammonium salt of a carboxyl-containing polymer, which has good compatibility with surfactants and is capable of providing excellent detergency, especially, against mud dirt in washing clothes. Detergent compositions, are also disclosed, containing an alkoxylated alcohol nonionic surfactant having a specific distribution constant and narrow molecular weight distribution or an anionic surfactant derived therefrom, together with one or more of a quaternary ammonium or organic amine salt of a carboxyl group-containing polymer, a cationic surfactant and a quaternary ammonium or organic amine salt of a low molecular weight polycarboxylic acid, whereby detergency is synergistically enhanced.

Abstract: Amine fabric softener actives are prepared in dispersion and/or clear form with materials to improve performance by increasing the cationic charge density. These materials include polycationic compounds, especially cationic polymers; single long-chain cationic compounds; and carboxylic acids that increase the acidity in the rinse, thus lowering pH and increasing the percentage of amine fabric softener active that is protonated. Antistatic properties are also improved.

Abstract: An aqueous fabric conditioning composition comprises a cationic softening agent and a silicone having a viscosity of from 1 to less than 10,000 cSt wherein the silicone comprises a cyclic polydi-(C1-6)alkyl siloxane. A silicone is used in a fabric conditioning composition comprising a cationic fabric softening agent to reduce the drying time of laundered fabrics and/or to increase the rate of water removed from the fabrics during the spin cycle of an automatic washing machine.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved controlled delivery system that can be incorporated in dry granular, or powder, fabric care products, such as laundry detergents, tumble dryer sheets, rinse added products, and other fabric care products, to enhance fragrance performance. The controlled delivery system of the present invention comprises substantially free-flowing, powder formed of solid hydrophobic, positively charged, nano-spheres of encapsulated active ingredients, such as a fragrance, that are encapsulated in a moisture sensitive micro-spheres, solid spheres. The high cationic charge density of the nano-sphere improves fragrance deposition onto the laundered fabric.
