Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed relate to demulsifier compositions for treatment of subterranean formations or produced petroleum comprising an emulsion. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of treating a subterranean formation. The method includes placing in the subterranean formation a demulsifier composition. The demulsifier composition includes an alkanolamide surfactant that is a (C1-C50)hydrocarbyl amide having groups R1 and R2 substituted on the amide nitrogen, wherein R1 and R2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of —H, —(C1-C50)hydrocarbyl, and —(C1-C50)hydrocarbylene-OH, wherein at least one of R1 and R2 is —(C1-C50)hydrocarbylene-OH. The demulsifier composition includes an alkoxylated alcohol surfactant that is a (C1-C50)hydrocarbyl-OH having a —((C2-C3)alkylene-O)n-H group on the —OH group, wherein n is about 1 to about 100. The demulsifier composition also includes an amine-oxide surfactant.

Abstract: A quaternary surfactant comprising a cyclic diamine group, compositions comprising the quaternized amido cyclic amine surfactant, a gelled aqueous composition comprising the quaternized amido cyclic amine surfactant, use of the gelled aqueous well treatment applications and methods of preparation and intermediates used to prepare the quaternized amido cyclic amine surfactant.
Abstract: A method of treating an oil-containing waste water includes adding, where the waste water has been adjusted to have a pH between eight and twelve and have a temperature not higher than 50° C., a high-cationic flocculant consisting of a high-molecular material selected from among acrylamide-quaternized or salified dimethylaminoethyl acrylate or methacrylate copolymer, and acrylamide-quaternized or salified dimethylaminoethyl acrylate or methacrylate-acrylic acid copolymer, and which constitutes a plurality of polymerized units at least 60 mol % of which have respective cationic functional groups, to the waste water, such that a concentration of the flocculant in the waste water falls between 100 mg/L and 1,000 mg/L, so that at least one fouling component dispersed in the water is flocculated to form a sludge consisting of flocks of the at least one fouling component and thereby separate the at least one fouling component and the water.
Abstract: The invention relates to amphiphilic compounds of the general formula (I) with at least two hydrophilic and at least two hydrophobic groups based on di, oligo or polyolethers. The amphiphilic compounds of this invention are highly surface active and are suitable as emulsifiers, demulsifiers, detergents, dispersants and hydrotropes for industrial and domestic purposes, e.g. in the fields of metalworking, ore separation, surface treatment, washing and cleaning, cosmetics, medicine and food processing and preparation.

Abstract: Demulsification of a water-in-oil, especially a water-in-crude oil, emulsion is effected by contacting it with an aqueous composition having at least one oil-soluble demulsifier and at least one water-soluble surfactant. These aqueous formulations are advantageous over conventional organic formulations of demulsifiers, as the need for toxic and/or flammable/combustible organic solvents is eliminated.
