  • Patent number: 7730681
Abstract: A flashing panel mount for a plurality of air-conditioning lines of an air-conditioning unit located about an exterior of a building is provided. The plurality of air-conditioning lines defines an outer periphery. The panel mount may comprise a hood member and a cover. The hood member may be attachable to the building and may have a hood member aperture sized and configured to accommodate at least two of the plurality of air-conditioning lines so as to extend the air-conditioning lines from within the building to the air-conditioning unit located about the building exterior. The cover may be attached to the hood member aperture and may be sized and configured to accommodate the air-conditioning lines therethrough. The cover may be conformable to the outer periphery of the air-conditioning lines once the air conditioning lines are fed through the hood member aperture to prevent entrance of undesirable material from a building outside to a building inside.

  • Patent number: 7721494
Abstract: Provided is a strengthening device to increase the strength of a grout layer. In the strengthening device, clamp members are interconnected and clamped to surround a grout layer on a concrete base, on which an upper structure is installed, so as to increase the strength of the grout layer. Connection members are provided to edges of the clamp members to connect the clamp members. Fastening means is fastened between the connection members in order to enable the clamp members to clamp the grout layer. This strengthening device acts as a mold to facilitate easy construction when grout is placed, and surrounds the grout layer to increase the strength of the grout layer after grout is cured, thereby effectively preventing and minimizing failure of the grout layer caused by loads transferred from an upper structure such as a column member or a bridge bearing.

  • Patent number: 7673427
Abstract: A clamp for use with metal bar joists (or beams) has one or more steel angled bracket members or plates, adapted to fit under the corrugations of a corrugated steel roof. Each plate of the clamp is adapted to sit horizontally across a top of the bar joist perpendicular to the joist, and extend slightly over an edge of the joist. Each plate contains an elongate slot allowing a bolt to be inserted through the slot. A retainer heel clip is secured to an end of each such bolt. This retainer heel clip is tightened to the underside of the top flange of the bar joist using a washer and a threaded plate or nut, thus providing a clamping action. Each clamp has a vertical attachment tongue section of steel welded to it, including one or more elongate slots which complement perforations that occur along the length of a steel framing angle, allowing bolts to attach the clamp and the framing angle together.

The housing includes first and second base sections, a hood, and a conduit opening extending through a side wall of the housing. The base sections are slidably engageable with each other around the conduit on the roof to form a base assembly. The base assembly has an open top and extends peripherally around an interior region containing a lower portion of the conduit. The hood is engageable with the base assembly to cover at least the open top of the base assembly. The conduit opening is sized to provide a passage for the conduit from within the interior region to an external region outside the housing, and it may extend through a side wall of the base assembly or a side wall of the hood.

Abstract: An enclosure assembly for use with mechanical penetrations through a roof including a plurality of structural sections. Each structural section has a vertical portion, including a first end and a second end, and a horizontal portion. Each first end includes projections and each second end includes receptacles, wherein each projection is adapted to sealingly engage with a receptacle of an adjacent structural section. Each projection is inserted into a cooperatively aligned receptacle of an adjacent structural section to form a polygonal-shaped assembly having a plurality of connections and defining a cavity. The projections may be hook-shaped and the receptacles may be rectangular-shaped. The resulting cavity is shaped to contain a sealing material suitable to sealingly enclose a mechanical penetration and a portion of the exterior roof surface within the cavity.

Abstract: Counter pressure methods and apparatus for protecting roofs are described, which ensure that indoor air pressure remains negative, that is lower than ambient outdoor pressure during severe windstorms, thus counteracting and thereby reducing the uplift force on the roof surface of a building. In accordance with different embodiments of the invention, one-way valves are provided in openings in the building envelope, such as window openings, or installed over the vents into the roof space so that indoor air flows freely out of the building to a lee zone through the one-way valves while the high air pressure on the windward sides can cause little inward flow because the one-way valves quickly blow closed under wind pressure. According to a further embodiment a Venturi-tube is mounted vertically through or alongside the roof so that its open top forms its own low pressure suction area to draw air from either or both the indoors or the roof space to the same effect.
