  • Patent number: 9464475
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a hollow core door is disclosed, as well as a corresponding hollow core door. The method includes the steps of providing a solid flat door skin, moisturizing the flat skin, applying a conditioning resin thereto, pre-heating the flat door skin, and thereafter pressing the flat door skin between a pair of heated platens in a press in order to reform the flat skin into a molded skin including a plurality of panels defined therein. The press continuously closes in order to reform the flat skin into the molded skin, with the rate of press closure being a function of the determined hardness of the flat skin to be reformed. The resulting door skins have an improved bond strength, and are efficiently manufactured.

  • Patent number: 9322167
Abstract: A connector for a pair of decking boards, having grooves or recesses in their side walls, laid end-to end, has at least one connector member with parallel side edges arranged for “wedging-type” engagement with the grooves or recesses across the joint between the adjacent ends of a pair of the decking boards. A bridging member extends substantially from the connector member, optionally interconnects a pair of the connector members, and is received in rebates in the adjacent ends of the pair of decking boards at the joint. The bridging member is relatively rigid in the vertical plane; but may be telescopic, or may flex, in the horizontal plane; when in use. The decking boards are laid on a support structure, with respective connector members overlapping the joint between the ends of a pair of the decking boards, so that the connector members of the connector at the joint engage the respective grooves or recesses of the adjacent overlapping decking boards, and the bridging member(s) engage in respective rebates.

A diffusion barrier layer is formed directly on the outer wall between the first and second reinforcing layers and is connected thereto in a diffusion-proof manner in order to form a heat-insulating diffusion barrier. An insulating pane unit includes at least two panes with such a spacer frame disposed therebetween.

Abstract: Light-weight modular panel systems including a plurality of panels formed of a cementitious material, with a fiber-reinforced shell layer and an adjacent substrate layer. The panels employ a light-weight aggregate that provides the panels with the ability to be cut, sanded, drilled, screwed, and otherwise shaped using common wood working tools. A dual panel thickness wall construction may be formed by using the panels to provide interior and exterior portions of a wall construction. Seams between adjoining panels may be spanned with fiberglass mesh and bonded with polymer modified cementitious adhesive, providing excellent strength in that the joints between adjacent modular panels do not represent a weak point of the wall construction. The resulting wall provides greater strength than the individual panels, and results in a monocoque structure in which interior and exterior panels, and their respective fiber reinforced layers are spaced apart from one another.
