Abstract: A regional aircraft boarding pier can be provided at an airport concourse in place of one or two conventional large aircraft boarding bridges. The regional aircraft boarding pier includes a primary passenger bridge between the airport concourse and a hub. A number of secondary passenger bridges extend from the hub to individual regional aircraft. In this way, an equivalent number of passenger seats can be serviced as between large and regional aircraft, and large and regional aircraft can be docked at a common airport terminal. Consequently, passengers can more efficiently and conveniently transfer between connecting flights that are on both large and regional aircraft. The hub of the boarding pier can take a number of configurations to optimally use the space available. The hub can also support large aircraft boarding bridges as well as the secondary passenger bridges docked to smaller, regional aircraft.

Abstract: A sealing apparatus for forming a weather seal between a vehicle and a loading dock is provided. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a roller seal rotatably mounted to a support for rotation about an axis. The roller seal is movable in at least a vertical direction from a first position in the path of a vehicle entering the parking area, to a second position wherein the roller seal is disposed adjacent the top of the vehicle. Preferably, a curtain is suspended distally of the roller seal such that, when the roller seal is in the second position, the curtain forms a first seal with the top of the vehicle and the roller seal forms a second seal with the top of the vehicle. The curtain is semi-rigid and, in some instances, defines a ramping surface to facilitate movement of the roller seal over the leading edge of a vehicle approaching the loading dock.

The suspended ceiling storage unit includes an outer frame which is dimensioned to rest upon the support lips of the runners of a rectilinear opening of the suspended ceiling, and an inner frame which is pivotably connected with the outer frame and is nestable therewith in a common plane. The inner frame has a lower flange for supporting a ceiling panel, and further has connected thereto a storage member for holding articles. The preferred storage member is a peg board and its interfaced pegs. In operation, a user places the storage unit into a selected rectilinear opening of a suspended ceiling, whereupon the outer frame rests upon the support lips of the adjoining runners.

  • Patent number: 5242219
Abstract: A storage device for use between exposed rafters of a basement or like ceiling is disclosed. The device includes a base and drawer each of rigid welded wire construction. The base is secured by wood screws to the bottom surface of adjacent rafters to span between them. The base includes tracks in the form of welded wires which define a pair of parallel slots. The wires also define an enlarged opening into the slots of the front end of the base. The drawer at the bottom of its rear end has a pair of spaced apart projecting T-shaped hooks for releasably and slidably engaging the track. The hooks also allow the drawer to hang vertically from the front end of the base and to be manually removed and reinserted into engaging with the slots through the wide openings. The drawer may be pivoted upward on the hooks and slid with the hooks engaged in the slots to a storage position atop the base and between the rafters.
