Abstract: A wind resistant modular ISO building includes a first cargo container, a second cargo container, and a mounting system. The first and second cargo containers are joined to each other by attaching adjacent lengthwise frame rails. Most of an inner lengthwise side wall of the first and second cargo containers is removed. The first and second cargo containers are also joined to each other by attaching a plurality of vertical channels of upper portions of the lengthwise side walls. A plurality of horizontal channels are attached to the plurality of vertical channels. At least two moment frames are attached to an inside of the first and second cargo containers. The end door of the first and second cargo containers are replaced with an end panel. Preferably, at least one door entrance and window system is formed in at least one of the lengthwise side walls.

Abstract: Buildings which include rudimentary plumbing can be transported as a set of disassembled modular parts and then assembled on site. The assembled building includes a water reservoir in the roof and a sewage reservoir in the base, so as to enable gravity-based water supply and sewage disposal in the absence of traditional plumbing and sewage infrastructure. Building envelope elements having internal reservoirs, and methods for constructing such building envelope elements are also described.

Abstract: A building having a foundation and abutting wall panels seated on the foundation. Together they define at least one wall section, tied together by orthogonal tensioners. The tensioners include vertical tensioners located parallel and between adjacent wall panels and fixed to the foundation and at a respective anchor positioned at the top of the adjacent wall panel. These vertical tensioners allow a binding of the adjacent wall panel by said vertical tensioner onto the seat of the foundation. The tensioners also a horizontal tensioner extending between said anchors at each end of the wall section to allow a horizontal binding of wall panels of the wall section together.

  • Patent number: 9029714
Abstract: An electromagnetically shielded enclosure that is portable and lightweight with a double perimeter entry seal. The electromagnetically shielded enclosure can be used for applications such as testing and security and can be scaled from a bench top unit to a large field deployed enclosure. The electromagnetically shielded enclosure has a novel entry seal that eliminates the electromagnetic leakage that is common around the entry areas of such enclosures. The entry seal of the electromagnetically shielded enclosure is made up of a door having a first perimeter closure material and a second perimeter closure material and an enclosure opening having a first perimeter closure and a second perimeter closure where the first perimeter closure material aligns with the first perimeter closure and the second perimeter closure material aligns with the second perimeter closure. This double perimeter entry seal provides for electromagnetic isolation within the electromagnetically shielded enclosure.

Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement for attaching panels to support structures, a construction support structure, fastening means for panel elements and the use of such panel elements to create modular room building elements, e.g. wet-rooms. The inventive arrangement is based on fastening means having an skillet attachment strip made of a sheet-like material having a first edge and an integral tab having a second edge. The tab is then formed as a clip protruding transversally from the strip and having a first side and a second side and with a generally nose-shaped tab on the first side. In the support structure is provided a notch for receiving the clip in a locking engagement, with a cross-section having a first side and a second side, a waist part that is narrower than the dimension of the clip and including an integral element formed as a tongue on said first side.

Abstract: Manufactured modular units for the creation of multistory buildings are staggered stacked so as to create “bonus spaces” between units. Several lighter weight structural versions are presented. The first is a wood frame or cold rolled shape light gauge metal framed modular unit. The second version uses cross laminated timber panels to create the modular unit. The third version uses hot rolled steel shapes for the structure of the modular unit to be staggered stacked. These lighter weight modular units have many advantages. They are more easily transported and craned into position. Seismic forces are decreased. Less modular unit weight also allows for greater unit area. Thus, fewer units need to be transported and fewer units need to be craned. Also, a larger unit area and larger “bonus” area allows for more flexible space planning.

Abstract: A kit (100) for erecting a polygonal reinforced enclosure in situ is disclosed. The aforesaid kit comprises: (a) a framework (110) defining overall enclosure dimensions and having open flank areas; the frame (110) provided with securing means; and (b) a plurality of reinforcement members (120) being securable within the frame (110) by means of the securing means. The kit (100) further comprises a plurality of panels (140) configured to overcast the flank area. The panels (140) are securable to the reinforcement members (120). A volume defined by the framework (110) and the panels (140) is fillable with a filler for solidifying said en closure.
