The cycloolefin resin compositions show excellent thermal aging resistance and weathering resistance by the use of specific stabilizers, and therefore they are favorably used for forming optical instrument parts. Furthermore, the thermoplastic resin may be prepared from an olefin polymer having an alicyclic structure and a flexible polymer or flexible polymers. The incorporation of the flexible polymer especially improves the mechanical strength of the resultant products, and therefore the resin compositions are favorably used for machine parts, electronic parts, automobile parts, etc.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1994Date of Patent: March 7, 1995Assignee: Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Keiji Kawamoto, Tetsuji Kasai, Hideki Sakai

Patent number: 5352516Abstract: A novel polymeric pressure-sensitive adhesive formulation is provided comprised of a balanced hydrophilic/hydrophobic base polymer compounded with at least one water-soluble tackifying component. Upon contact of the pressure-sensitive adhesive with excess amounts of water, the water-soluble tackifying component is caused to separate from the base polymer, thus decreasing the ability of the base polymer to function as a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The adhesive may subsequently be easily removed from any substrate to which it has been applied.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1992Date of Patent: October 4, 1994Assignee: Adhesives Research, Inc.Inventors: Donald J.
