The self-healing mixture may be encapsulated to form self-healing capsules which may be dispersed in a polymer to fabricate self-healing material.

Abstract: A latent curing agent that can cure a thermosetting epoxy resin in a relatively short period of time and at a relatively low temperature has a structure in which an aluminum chelating agent is held by a porous resin carrier obtained through interfacial polymerization of a polyfunctional isocyanate compound. The aluminum chelating agent is preferably a complex compound comprising ?-ketoenolate anion ligands coordinated to aluminum. The latent curing agent can be produced by dissolving the aluminum chelating agent and the polyfunctional isocyanate compound in a volatile organic solvent, adding the resulting solution to an aqueous phase containing a dispersing agent, and stirring the resulting mixture to cause interfacial polymerization of the isocyanate compound while the mixture is being heated.

Abstract: A liquid electrostatographic toner or liquid ink jet ink prepared by the steps of heating a marking particle mix of particles of a resin and a colourant blend in a carrier liquid to a temperature between about the first softening point of the resin and about the second softening point of the resin, maintaining the temperature of the heated marking particle mix for a selected period of time, cooling the marking particle mix to room temperature, and mixing the marking particle mix with high shear. The particle mix can be produced by coarse grinding in a ball mill. The resultant toner or ink has an improved Newtonian like flow behaviour, improved electrical properties, reduced sedimentation and agglomeration and significantly improved optical density and reduced background.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments provide intermediate transfer members that can be used in electrostatographic devices and methods for using them in forming an image. The disclosed intermediate transfer members can include a plurality of nanotubes with high electrical conductivity, high thermal conductivity, and/or low humidity sensitivity. The hydrophobicity of the nanotubes can be controlled by covalently grafting hydrophobic components onto one or more nanotubes; surface treating one or more nanotubes; and encapsulating one or more nanotubes with hydrophobic components. In an exemplary embodiment, the nanotubes can be dispersed in polymer matrices and/or formed on the surface of polymer matrices of the intermediate transfer members. The intermediate transfer members can take various forms of belts, sheets, webs, films, rolls, tubes or any shape that can provide a smooth surface and rotatable function.

A polymer having a functional head group derived from a sulfur containing anionic initiator, and optionally as additional functional group resulting from the use of a functional terminating reagent, coupling agent or linking agent is also provided. A method is presented for anionically polymerizing monomers comprising the step of polymerizing the monomers with a sulfur containing anionic initiator to provide a functional head group on the polymer. An elastomeric compound, comprising a functional polymer and filler is also described. Also provided is a tire having decreased rolling resistance resulting from a tire component containing a vulcanizable elastomeric compound.
