  • Patent number: 6653377
Abstract: An economical and reliable system for the contained transfer of particulates by means of a series of transfer containers facilitates the particulate transfer without either exposure of the operating personnel and the environment to the particulate, or environmental contamination of the particulate itself. The system employs a multiple o-ring canister assembly which can be attached to either the discharging port or charging port of a piece of processing equipment. The canister has a series of circumferential o-ring grooves which allows the attachment of a series of individual transfer containers. In a charging mode, once the particulate is charged to the processing equipment, a first transfer container is collapsed and a second transfer container is placed in the next o-ring groove, thereby containing the remaining contaminated section of the first transfer container. The first transfer container is removed through a bag-out sleeve which is an integral part of the second transfer container.

  • Patent number: 6649146
Abstract: A composition for use as a dental impression material including a polymerizable resin consisting of oligomers or polymers functionalized with groups curable by ring opening metathesis polymerization. These oligomers or polymers are end-capped and/or tethered with said functional groups. The composition also includes a ruthenium carbene complex catalyst, whereby the catalyst initiates ring-opening metathesis polymerization of the composition. The invention includes a paste/paste system in which a base paste includes the polymerizable oligomer or polymer and an inorganic dental filler system and in which a catalyst paste includes the catalyst dissolved in an inert solvent and an inorganic dental filler system.

  • Patent number: 6528569
Abstract: The invention provides processes for producing solid, water-soluble or water-dispersible compositions comprising non film-forming materials, such as water-soluble agrochemical electrolytes, supported by film-forming polymers. The water-soluble agrochemical electrolytes can be salts of glyphosate. The processes comprise (i) preparing film-forming aqueous media containing (a) film-forming polymers; (b) water-soluble materials which are non film-forming; (c) water-miscible solvents in which the film-forming polymers are soluble and, optionally, (d) solid fillers, and thereafter (ii) drying the film-forming aqueous media to form the solid compositions. The invention also provides compositions produced by these processes.

  • Patent number: 6515099
Abstract: The polyamide resin shaped article of the present invention is produced by preliminarily melt-kneading a m-xylylene-containing polyamide resin and a layered silicate subjected to a swelling treatment to prepare a resin composition containing the layered silicate in high concentration, melt-kneading the resin composition with another portion of m-xylylene-containing polyamide resin, and then formed into the shaped article. Since the amount of the m-xylylene-containing polyamide resin exposed to the heat history twice in the melt-kneading steps is minimized, the gel formation due to the thermal degradation can be reduced and the lowering of the relative viscosity due to the decrease of the molecular weight caused by the thermal degradation of the m-xylylene-containing polyamide resin is prevented.

Abstract: The present invention discloses water-responsive, and optionally flushable compositions with improved stability to aqueous fluids comprising water or water vapor. The compositions of the 10 present invention comprise a water-responsive polymer and organically modified clay particles. In one embodiment, the water-responsive polymer is a polymer of ethylene oxide, specifically poly(ethylene oxide) and specific graft copolymers of poly(ethylene oxide). Films of the present invention are water-responsive and breathable and are especially useful for personal care applications including disposable diapers, feminine pads, pantiliners and training pants. Advantageously, compositions of the present invention have reduced melt viscosity and are more easily melt processed into films, fibers and other articles.
