  • Patent number: 4446272
Abstract: A resin composition having nice color tone and high crack-resistance as well as flame-retardancy is obtained by blending(A) 100 weight parts of a resin composition containing a rubber-reinforced vinyl aromatic polymer and polyphenylene ether represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represents a monovalent residue such as the same or different alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, aryl group, halogen and hydrogen, and n represents the polymerization degree or a polyphenylene ether onto which a vinyl aromatic compound is graft-copolymerized, in which the polyphenylene ether content is 5-70 wt. % (based on the weight of the resin part),(B) 1-30 weight parts of a halogenated aromatic compound and(C) 0.5-20 weight parts of a non-crystalline ethylene-propylene copolymer.

  • Patent number: 4418170
Abstract: A method for stabilizing organic polymers against copper-catalyzed oxidative decomposition by means of N,N-bis-salicyloyl hydrazine as a metal deactivator is described wherein dust development of the metal deactivator is precluded with certainty and negative property changes of the stabilized organic polymers are avoided. For this purpose, it is provided that a paste which contains finely-crystalline N,N'-bis-salicyloyl hydrazine in fine distribution in a liquid to wax-like aliphatic hydrocarbon of low volatility is worked into the polymer. The method is particularly well suited for stabilizing polyolefins for cable and wire insulation.

  • Patent number: 4373044
Abstract: The invention relates to plastics moulding compounds which have been flame-proofed with organic chlorine- or bromine-containing compounds, said moulding compounds containing at least one aerosol selected from the group comprising the highly dispersed silicates, highly dispersed alumina, and highly dispersed titanium dioxide, and, optionally, a dibasic or tribasic oxyacid of phosphorus or an ester thereof. These moulding compounds have a reduced corrosive action on contact metals.

  • Patent number: 4366001
Abstract: Fiber-treating compositions are disclosed which contain two types of organofunctional polysiloxanes, one bearing amino-functional organic radicals or carboxy-functional organic radicals or epoxy-functional radicals and the other bearing another type of organofunctional radicals selected from the same group. In addition, at least one of the organofunctional polysiloxanes bears one or more polyoxyalkylene radicals. These compositions are useful for durably treating fibers to provide several benefits such as antistatic character, moisture/perspiration absorbability, stain resistance, pliability, smoothness, crease resistance and compression recovery.

  • Patent number: 4336173
Abstract: The invention provides a process for preparing an aqueous emulsion or dispersion of a partly water-soluble material, and optionally further conversion of the prepared dispersion or emulsion to a polymer dispersion when the partly water-soluble material is a polymerizable monomer. In a first step a dispersion of polymer particles is prepared containing one or more materials having a very low solubility in water, then in a second step there is added the partly water-soluble material which diffuses into the particles from the first step, and then, if the partly water-soluble material is a polymerizable monomer, polymerization may be effected.
