    Abstract: An asphalt-polymer composition containing:a) at least 25 to 97 wt % of an asphalt,b) at least 1 to 25 wt % of a polymer, andc) at least 2 to 50 wt % of aromatic compound(s),whereinthe aromatic compound(s) is present in an amount greater than 2 wt %,the at least one aromatic compound(s) and the polymer are present in amounts such that the ratio of amount present of aromatic compound to amount present of polymer is from 0.5 to 10, andthe composition has a FRAASS point of less than or equal to -13.degree. C. and a storage stability defined by a".DELTA. ring-and-ball" and a ".DELTA. penetrability" of less than or equal to 5. Also a process for preparing such asphalt-polymer composition including mixing the asphalt, the polymer and the aromatic compound at a temperature from 190.degree. to 300.degree. C. for a period of time preferably exceeding 30 minutes. The asphalt-polymer composition can be used as a road asphalt, emulsion or surface coating.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a process for manufacturing surfactants for hydrocarbon by modifying the paper making black liquor resin using modifying agents. The process is to react or combine an alkaline aqueous solution, chemical substances such as olefin, aromatic hydrocarbon, and fatty acids, amino acids, phospholipids as well as one or more of the surfactants for petroleum recovery with 20%-80% of the paper making black liquor resin, the reaction lasting for 1-3 hours at the temperature of 80.degree.-100.degree. C. and ordinary pressure, the pH value of the reaction mixture being kept at 10-12. The surfactant prepared by this method can be effectively used in the recovery of thick oil, asphalt emulsification for road pavement and the oil driving in tertiary recovery oil drainage in petroleum recovery. It has remarkable viscosity reducing effect on petroleum, its emulsification ability being strong, its viscosity reducing rate for 3.0.times.10.sup.5 -5.0.times.10.sup.

    Abstract: A rubber mixture vulcanizable with sulphur, a tire tread manufactured from it and also tires with a vulcanized tread are proposed. The rubber mixture contains in each case 100 parts by weight of elastomers, 20 to 80 parts by weight of a copolymer of conjugated diene and vinyl aromatic compound with very low long chain branching manufactured by solution polymerization in a hydrocarbon solvent, 10 to 50 parts by weight of polybutadiene with very low long chain branching, 10 to 30 parts by weight of polyisoprene with a 3,4 bond content of 50 to 70% by weight and 30 to 100 parts by weight of silica as filler material. Through the special combination of the three elastomers with silica as a filler material one obtains an easily processable mixture which leads to vulcanized tire treads with improved grip on wet and dry surfaces.

The colored high-tenacity fiber of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has a tensile strength of at least 28 g/d and a tensile modulus of at least 700 g/d. The dye is substantially soluble in the solvent at the melting point of solvent-containing filaments which are obtained by spinning a solution of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and the dye is substantially uniformly dispersed in the core portion of the fiber. Also disclosed is a process for producing a colored high-tenacity fiber of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.

The solvent is then evaporated to thereby deposit a preceramic coating on the substrate. The preceramic coating is then ceramified by heating the to a temperature of between about 40.degree. C. and about 1000.degree. C. This coating, moreover, may be covered by additional passivation and barrier coatings.

The copolymer preferably has a molecular weight of about 180,000 to about 250,000, as expressed in polystyrene equivalent molecular weight units. The monoalkenyl arene polymer blocks preferably comprise from about 17% to about 23% by weight of the total molecular weight of the copolymer. The preferred polymer for the monoalkenyl arene block is polystyrene; the preferred polymer for the elastomeric conjugated diene block is polyisoprene.
