Abstract: A hot melt adhesive comprises an ethylene ?-olefin copolymer, an acid anhydride modified polyolefin and a hydrogenated tackifying resin. The hot melt adhesive has excellent viscoelastic properties and can be used in a variety of applications. In one application, attaching an elastic band to a flexible film, the adhesive has excellent viscosity and, in a finished absorbent article, a minimal creep characteristic. Also disclosed is a disposable article using the adhesive to adhere adjacent surfaces within the disposable article including an elastic band to a polyolefin backing film, for example, in a diaper, incontinent article or other such structure.
Abstract: A thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is disclosed which is a combination of a non-elastomeric polyolefin and two different non-crosslinked elastomers and optional softening oil. The TPE can be used as an outer layer on at least a portion of the outer surface of a co-extruded, blow-molded polyolefin plastic article to provide a “soft touch” gripping surface on the article.

Abstract: Disclosed is a coating material for forming a gas barrier. The coating material includes a polyalcohol polymer, a polycarboxylic acid polymer, and a divalent or higher-valent metal compound whose surface is coated with a poorly water-soluble component, or alternatively a monovalent metal compound whose surface is coated with a poorly water-soluble component and a divalent or higher-valent metal compound whose surface is coated with a poorly water-soluble component. By applying this coating material to a plastic substrate layer, a gas-barrier multilayer body having a gas-barrier layer formed thereon is obtained.

Abstract: A process is described in which, through the combination of certain components, a thermal insulated coating paint is obtained having the properties of flexibility and lightness (low density) in a film of low thickness. This coating paint offers better thermal insulation properties with a low thickness film than other insulators having greater thickness, without requiring any additional protection. These properties are provided due to the internal structure of the coating paint wherein internal caverns are formed by the reaction of ramified chain polymers and additional materials. These characteristics are not present in traditional coating paints.
