Nitrogen Ring Directly Fused Or Bridged To A Ring System Patents (Class 524/87)
  • Patent number: 4436853
Abstract: A metal to rubber adhesion promoter comprising the reaction product of a phenol and a substituted melamine, said phenol being ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 through R.sub.4 are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, cyclic and acyclic alkyl groups having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and a substituted melamine having the formula ##STR2## where R.sub.5 through R.sub.10 may be the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms. The reaction product is a resin and is added to the rubber compound prior to cure. The adhesion promoter is useful in the making of tires having steel belts and in other reinforced rubber articles.

  • Patent number: 4405733
Abstract: A composite quasi-crystalline material made of a polymeric support matrix having disposed therein polar quasi-crystals of photochromic spiropyran complexes, believed to be of the formula A.sub.n B, in which A represents the "colorless" photochromic spiropyran molecule and B represents the colored merocyanine form which is the photolysis product of A, and n is 2 or 3. The polar quasi-crystals are present in the composite material in a substantially polar aligned form. Methods for making the composite material are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4388403
Abstract: Dispersions of hydrophobic substances in water are prepared by dissolving the hydrophobic substance together with an ionomeric polyaddition or condensation product in an organic, water-miscible solvent or a mixture of such a solvent with water, diluting the solution with water and removing the organic solvent. The dispersions are excellently suitable for the preparation of photographic recording materials.
