Patent number: 5371124Abstract: Disclosed is a radiation resistant propylene polymer composition comprising a propylene polymer material and generally from about 0.1 to about 5 pph, of the propylene polymer material, of a rosin material. A hindered amine is present when the concentration of the rosin material is low, i.e., below 1.0 pph. At higher concentrations of rosin material, the hindered amine is optional. Radiation sterilized articles in which at least part of the material construction thereof comprises said radiation resistant propylene polymer composition are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1993Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Assignee: Himont IncorporatedInventor: Joel M. Cooke

Patent number: H1600Abstract: Phillips' process high density polyethylene resin compositions having improved processing stability are obtained using a combination of stabilizers comprised of a hindered phenol and a phosphite compound having three cyclic phosphite moieties linked via a nitrogen atom. More specifically, the phosphite compound is 2, [[2,4,8,10-tetrakis(1,1-dimethylethyl)dibenzo[d,f][1,3,2]-dioxaphosphepin- 6-yl]oxy]-N,N-bis [2-[[2,4,8,10-tetrakis (1,1-dimethylethyl) dibenzo[d,f][1,3,2]dioxaphosphenpin-6-yl]oxy]-ethyl]ethanamine. With the HDPE compositions stabilized in accordance with the invention, it is possible to eliminate undesirable rapid changes in melt viscosity which can occur when Phillips' process HDPE resins are processed under conditions of high shear.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1995Date of Patent: October 1, 1996Assignee: Quantum Chemical CompanyInventors: Stephen M.
