Patent number: 4334043Abstract: Crosslinkable polymers and co-polymers are treated with organo-metallic compounds, inorganic metallic salts, or lanthanides prior to crosslinking with free radical organic peroxide initiators in the presence of oxygen. This pre-treatment eliminates tackiness of the surface of the crosslinked polymer making the crosslinked polymer more commercially acceptable.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1980Date of Patent: June 8, 1982Assignee: Pennwalt CorporationInventor: Jurgen Groepper

Patent number: 4281087Abstract: Block and graft lactone copolymers are prepared by reacting a base polymer containing hydroxyl groups with an organometallic catalyst of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 ', R.sub.2 ', R.sub.3 ', and R.sub.4 ' are alkoxy groups (alcoholate groups), M' is a trivalent metal and M is a divalent metal, whereby the catalyst becomes bonded to the base polymer by way of the hydroxyl groups. Then the remaining alkoxy groups are converted to acyl groups and thereafter the organometalic end-groups are reacted with a lactone to form the lactone polymer moiety. The resulting block and graft copolymers are particularly useful when blended with other polymers, as for example polyvinyl chloride.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1979Date of Patent: July 28, 1981Assignee: Philippe TeyssieInventors: Jean Heuschen, Robert Jerome, Philippe Teyssie

Patent number: 4185831Abstract: This invention is directed to a composition for use as a material for the outer layer of a golf ball, which composition is produced by the reaction of an ionomer resin with a monoepoxy compound. The golf ball having the outer layer of such composition can be driven for a long distance with a soft shot feeling.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1978Date of Patent: January 29, 1980Assignee: Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd.Inventor: Ichiro Tominaga

Patent number: 4185043Abstract: There are disclosed thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers which incorporate tungsten and/or molybdenum metal atoms. The metal atoms are incorporated into the polymer by reacting a monomer or polymer containing at least one free carboxyl group with a reaction product of tungsten or molybdenum and pyrrolidine.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1978Date of Patent: January 22, 1980Assignee: HitcoInventor: Robert C. Shaffer
