Abstract: Long-chain polymeric polyimidazopyrrolones (also referred to as pyrrones) have macromolecular chains of the formula: ##STR1## where A is a tetravalent organic radical and n is a large whole number. The polymers have film-forming properties and can be used in the production of laminates or composite materials, for example, friction pads.

Abstract: Bis-anthranilates of the formula ##STR1## or mixtures thereof, in which, in the formula, m and n are each 0 or a number from 1 to 5 and the sum of m and n must be at least 1, y is 0 or 1 and X is an alkylene radical having 1 to 8 C atoms, para- or meta-phenylene or para-cyclohexylene.The novel compounds are valuable chain extenders and crosslinking agents for the production of polyurethanes and polyurea resins and are also suitable as curing agents for epoxide resins.
Abstract: Disclosed is a poly(hydrazone-hydrazide) prepared from difunctional acid chlorides and 4-(hydrazonomethyl)benzoic acid hydrazide. The poly(hydrazone-hydrazide) contains repeating units corresponding to the structure: ##STR1## Films of this polymer have unobviously high tensile and tear strengths without the necessity of biaxially orienting the film.

Abstract: The invention relates to new imidyl compounds of the formula Ia and isoimidyl compounds of the formula Ib ##STR1## IN WHICH A denotes a divalent organic radical, especially an ethenylene, ethylene or propylene group. These compounds serve as curing agents for epoxide resins and give cured products with good mechanical and electrical properties.

Abstract: A polybenzimidazole having a polymer chain with the following repeating unit: ##STR1## R.sub.2 is a divalent carbon ring with the linkage to an adjacent repeating unit through adjacent carbon atoms of the ring. Such polybenzimidazoles are formed by the condensation of (a) a substitute carbon ring compound, having at least one dicarboxylic anhydride or its equivalent substituted at adjacent carbon atoms and (b) an organic tetraamine of the following formula: ##STR2## Polybenzimidazoles of the foregoing type may be formed by the use of a tetracarboxylic dianhydride in the condensation reaction. These cross-linked polymers are characterized by minimal softening or burning at high temperature.
Abstract: Processes are described for the preparation of substantially pure aminophthalic anhydrides and for polymerizing these monomers to unmodified and modified improved polyamic acid and polyimides.
Abstract: High molecular weight polyphenylamide-quinoxalines comprised essentially of nits of the formula ##STR1## or mixtures thereof, are prepared by heating bifunctional monomers of the formula ##STR2## or mixtures thereof, wherein R is COCH.sub.3 or --H to a temperature above the melting point of the monomer but below the decomposition temperature of the polyphenylamide -quinoxaline (Ca. 475-490.degree. C). This melt polymerization of the bifunctional monomers produces strong, low void adhesive joints.
