Plural Covers Patents (Class 53/449)
  • Patent number: 6679028
Abstract: A method is provided for forming a package of a plurality of side-by-side stacks of continuous strips of material. Each strip is folded back and forth about first and second fold lines to form a stack of a plurality of folded overlying strip portions which are arranged side-by-side so that the side edges are aligned. The fold lines are transverse to the strip and arranged at opposite ends of the stack. A splice tail portion extending from a first strip end portion of each stack is spliced to a second strip end portion. The stacks are compressed such that their height is equal to that of the container and the splice tail portions remain loose and uncompressed.

Abstract: A wafer-shipping device and a wafer storage method for protecting bonding pads from fluoridation. First, at least one through hole is drilled in the shipping box. The wafer is then placed in the shipping box. A packaging bag containing the shipping box is put into a vacuum packaging machine to remove air from the packaging bag and the shipping box. A dry inert gas is then introduced into the packaging bag and the shipping box until approaching atmospheric pressure as so to prevent the shipping box from collapse. The packaging bag is then sealed.

  • Patent number: 6662530
Abstract: A dual chamber sachet with a dispensing outlet can be made in a form/fill sequence by attaching the dispensing outlet to the film that is to form the chamber divider wall followed by attaching films that are to form the outer walls of the sachet to the dispensing outlet. The upper and side lateral edges of the sachet then are sealed together to produce a sachet with an open bottom end. The sachet can be produced from three film sources, two film sources with the outer walls being formed from a single film, or from a single film formed into a W-shape. The sachet preferably is filled through the open bottom end and the bottom end then sealed. However the sachet can be top filled through the nozzle. The sachets then are severed one from the other by cutting along a lateral seal and packed into a carton, or preformatted along a lateral seal and cut to produce a string of a set number of sachets. The sachets can have a single use dispensing outlet or a reclosable dispensing outlet.

  • Publication number: 20030200727
Abstract: A packaged liquid-filled plastic tube is provided to achieve a desirably long shelf life. The tube is formed from PET, polypropylene or otherknown plastics that exhibit high liquid permeability. A liquid additive of a specified volume, concentration and/or solubility is placed in the tube and the tube is sealed. Loss of liquid through the permeable tube is prevented by a moisture barrier film that is sealed around the tube. The moisture barrier film maintains a high relative humidity adjacent said tube and substantially minimizes transport of liquid vapor through the plastic of the tube.

  • Patent number: 6619014
Abstract: For sequentially strapping stacks of printed products (3) with a strapping tape (27), stacks are conveyed to a strapping position pressed together between two presser arms (8.1 and 8.2.) and are there strapped in a pressed-together condition. A loop of the strapping tape (27) positioned around the stack (3) is tightened, locked and cut-off from a supply roll. In doing so, the tape loop is applied in a zone of the stack face sides outside the presser arms (8.1 and 8.2.) and aligned with slot-shaped apertures (19.1, 19.2) in the presser arms (8.1 and 8.2.) such that the strapping tape (27), when it is being tightened, is moved through the apertures (19.1, 19.2) and comes to lie directly on the face sides of the stack. The strapping is advantageous to strap stacks (3), which have either been previously, or are being simultaneously, enveloped with an enveloping material (25), whereby the envelope is applied around the stack (3) and the presser arms (8.1 and 8.2.

  • Patent number: 6574945
Abstract: A number of spaced apart first and second cavities are continuously formed in first and second thin sheets of material, respectively. Each of the first and second cavities has an edge at an opening thereof. The formed first and second cavities travel in paths that are downwardly inclined from the horizontal and approach each other. A number of first bodies are fed into the first cavities, respectively, where each of the first bodies has a liquid tight interior cavity that contains a volume of a first liquid. This liquid is one that when mixed with a second liquid starts a chemiluminescent reaction. The edge of each of the first cavities is sealed progressively with the respective edge of a second cavity, while injecting the second liquid into one or both of the first and second cavities that are being sealed. This forms a liquid tight second body that contains the first body and a second volume of the second liquid.

The foam layer prevents excessive movement of the electronic components within the cavities, thereby protecting the leads and other parts of the components from damage. The method for protecting the components in the cavities of the carrier tape includes attaching the foam layer on the underside of the cover tape before sealing the cover tape on the carrier tape. When the cover tape is bonded to the carrier tape with the components placed in the cavities, the foam layer prevents excessive movement of the components therein.

Abstract: A system and method for packaging shaped charges (12) for transportation is disclosed. Each shaped charge (12) includes a housing (14) and a liner (16) having a high explosive disposed therebetween. A jet spoiler (20) is positioned proximate the liner (16) of each of the shaped charges (12) to prevent the formation of a jet in the event of an inadvertent initiation of a shaped charge (12). The shaped charges (12) are then oriented in first and second layers such that the jet spoilers (20) positioned proximate the liners (16) of the shaped charges (12) in the first and second layers oppose one another. A shielding panel (22) is disposed between the shaped charges (12) of the first and second layers. The shaped charges (12) including the jet spoilers (20) and the shielding panel (22) are placed within an expandable bag (32) which is in turn enclosed within a transportation container (34).

Abstract: The invention relates to a roll package for a roll having a longitudinal roll axis, a pair of spaced roll ends and an outer roll surface extending between the roll ends and radially spaced from said longitudinal roll axis. The roll package comprises a first layer positioned over said outer roll surface and wrapped on the roll in a direction substantially perpendicular to said longitudinal roll axis. The first layer is a cushioned protective layer. A separate second layer is positioned over said first layer and extends throughout the length of said roll. The invention also relates to a method of making a roll package for a roll having a longitudinal roll axis. In one embodiment, a roll package comprises two or more said rolls having a common longitudinal axis and situated against each other, a pair of opposing ends. Each roll has at least said first layer and said second layer.

Abstract: For the sequential strapping of stacks of printed products (3) with a strapping tape (27), the stacks are conveyed to a strapping position pressed together between two presser arms (8.1 and 8.2.) and there strapped in a pressed together condition, in that a loop of the strapping tape (27) positioned around the stack (3) is tightened, locked and cut-off from a supply roll. In doing so, the tape loop is applied in the zone of the face sides of the stack outside the presser arms (8.1 and 8.2.) and aligned to slot-shaped apertures (19.1, 19.2) in the presser arms (8.1 and 8.2.) in such a manner, that the strapping tape (27), when it is being tightened, is moved through the apertures (19.1, 19.2) and comes to lie directly on the face sides of the stack. Abstract: Apparatus for stacking bales of hay into large bundles such as, for example, three bales high and seven bales wide, positions bands about the stacked array to provide a tightly bound, compressed stack of bales. The stacking apparatus compresses the stacked bales during banding with a greater force applied to the same facing portions of the bales as applied during formation of the bales to form a solid, rigid, self-supporting large bundle made up of small bales. Parallel spaced compression zones extending inwardly are formed in the upper and lower rows of bales in the least compressed portion of the bales for receiving the bands which are applied without high tension so as not to damage the hay in holding the bundle of hay bales together.
