Abstract: A child resistant cap assembly for a bottle is disclosed comprising an inner cap and outer cap. When an external pressure is applied to the outer cap, the teeth on the outer cap engage with the inner cap. While engaged, the cap assembly is rotated in a counter clockwise direction to unfasten or unscrew the cap assembly from the bottle.

Abstract: A multi-atmosphere, nested food container having an opaque, thermoformed top tray with a modified atmosphere other than air for storing unpackaged, perishable food items therein nested within a transparent, thermoformed bottom tray having a non-modified atmosphere for prepackaged food items. The top tray is sealed with a transparent common air impermeable flexible film to allow for viewing of the food items therethrough. The top tray nests inside of the bottom tray such that a bottom surface of the top tray is placed inside of an opening at the top surface of the bottom tray. This orientation allows for the top tray to remain in a relatively upright position such that the top surface of the top tray remains visible to consumers.

Abstract: The method consists in: a) screwing a spherical impact part (16) onto the body of the cork so as to extend it axially; b) orienting and holding the bottle (14) in a predetermined position such that the bottle extends below a reference level (18), the impact part (16) emerging above said level; and c) striking the impact part with a striker surface (22) situated at the end of the arm of a striker accessory (24), e.g. a golf club. This produces a sudden force on the cork of amplitude that is sufficient to forcibly expel the cork solely by the fact of striking against the impact part. The device further comprises a podium (10) defining the reference level (18) and means (30) for orienting and holding the bottle (14) in a predetermined position which may be vertical or inclined.

Abstract: A method for operating a package emptying station having a work station, in which an emptying step is performed, an inlet via which the package to be emptied is inserted into the work station, an outlet via which the emptied package is ejected, and a product outlet through which the emptied contents of the package is discharged. Continuous tubular film packs are provided both at the inlet and also at the package outlet which seal off the inlet and the outlet and encase the package to be emptied or the emptied package during the insertion or corresponding ejection of the package. The film is sealed off and severed between individual packages such that the interior and the exterior do not come into contact. In this manner, both contamination of the package contents by environmental substances and also any contamination of the environment by the package contents can be avoided.

Abstract: A member for opening a rectangular cuboid includes a elongated body having an insertion section, a delamination and a folding section sequentially positioned along the longitudinal axis of the body. The insertion section includes a tapered insertion end configured for guiding the body into an opening in an end of the cuboid. The delamination section is configured to laterally displace first and second flaps of the cuboid relative to each other away from a first sealed position. The opening section has oppositely facing sidewalls to deflect the first and second flaps to a second open position at which the first and second flaps are opened past first and second sides of the cuboid. A machine having the opening member and a method of opening a rectangular cuboid are also included.

Abstract: Decapping system for opening or closing reagent containers or cartridge systems closed by a lid the which is removed and secured by a rotational movement and method thereof are disclosed. The decapping system has a centering unit that the at its lower end provides a snap-in element which engages the lid, and a plurality of simultaneously driven and vertically movable screwing heads which compensates for variable heights and/or sizes of cartridge systems to be processed.

Abstract: A method for using a packaging material for a medical instrument set, the medical instrument set being housed in said packaging material and assembled from a plurality of medical instruments. The packaging material includes a packaging material body having an opening therein and a lid that closes the opening and holds or fastens, on an inside portion thereof, a blood collecting needle. The method includes an opening operation for peeling off the lid to expose the opening to an outside environment while letting the blood collecting needle through the opening, and then taking the blood collecting needle out from the packaging material body; a preparation operation for removing the blood collecting needle from the lid; and a blood collecting operation for collecting blood by using the blood collecting needle in a stage where the blood-processing part is housed in the packaging material body.

Abstract: Techniques for providing cost effective and tamper evident prepaid card packaging are described. By forming a tear strip in a panel of the prepaid card packaging and aligning an activation bar code or other indicia on the card with the tear strip when mounting the card within the packaging, the security of the activation indicia can be maintained until after purchase. After purchase, access can be achieved by tearing away the tear strip and the card can be activated in a secure manner. Because the activation indicia is maintained secure until after purchase, if desired a single number, for example, a card account number can be used to identify both the card account and to activate the card.

Abstract: A method of filling a multi-dose blister card first includes selecting a first intermediate blister card comprising a plurality of tablets of a first product stored within a first plurality of intermediate blisters. Additionally, a multi-dose blister card including a plurality of multi-dose blisters that are empty is selected. The plurality of tablets of the first product from the first plurality of intermediate blisters are transferred into the plurality of multi-dose blisters. Next, a second intermediate blister card including a plurality of tablets of a second product stored within a second plurality of intermediate blisters is selected. The plurality of tablets of the second product are then transferred into the plurality of multi-dose blisters such that at least one of the multi-dose blisters contains one tablet of the first product and one product of the second product.

Abstract: A suture package retaining device having a housing with an interior space. Suture packages are located in an interior space of the housing and biased towards a top of the device. A top-most suture package is positioned at the top in alignment with an opening. The top-most suture package is held in position in the retaining device, permitting a user to access a suture of the package through the opening. When a user applies upward force to remove the suture, the suture package is maintained in a fixed position, allowing the user to disassociate the suture from the package. The device may include a slot through which suture packages may be inserted into or removed from the interior space.

An infusion set for intermittent or continuous administration of a therapeutical substance, such as insulin, comprises an infusion part having a cannula penetrating the skin of a patient and a connector which connects the infusion part with a medical device such as an adaptor for a syringe or an insulin pump. The insertion of the infusion part will be performed with an insertion needle which is delivered together with the infusion part under sterile conditions. The packaging comprises an impenetrable part (7) protecting the surroundings from the insertion needle and a removal part (8) which is to be removed by the user before applying the infusion part. The inner surface of the impenetrable part (7) is provided with means (7a) for releasable retaining at least a part of the infusion set.

The condiment packet further includes a spreading apparatus being within the sealed pouch. The spreading apparatus may be used to spread the condiment over a food substance once the condiment is squeezed onto the food substance and once a portion of the spreading apparatus is exposed.

Abstract: A single serving beverage container has a body with a first end and an opposite second end that is relatively smaller than the first end. The first end is open and the second end is closed. The body defines an interior cavity of a predetermined volume for containing a beverage. A protective film is removably mounted to a rim at the first end and forms a liquid-tight seal therewith. The container includes an end cap having a first mounting structure for detachably mounting the end cap to the first end of the body when in a first assembled condition, and a second mounting structure for detachably mounting the end cap to the second end of the body when in a second assembled condition. When in the first assembled condition, the end cap does not interfere with the protective film.

Abstract: A space saver pillow system comprises a space saver pillow and a bag. The space saver pillow includes a fill and a covering surrounding and enclosing the fill. The fill of the space saver pillow is adapted to generally rebound back to its natural state after being compressed. The bag encloses the space saver pillow and an amount of air. The space saver pillow enclosed in the bag is compressed no more than about 80% of its original size.

Abstract: The present invention is a novel child-resistant senior-friendly blister card packaging that is cheap and easy to manufacture. The packaging requires a push-peel-push method for opening, which is cognitively and physically challenging for children and mentally impaired adults. Yet, competent adults can easily open the package, especially after reading instructions. More specifically, opening the package requires the user to: 1) Push through a aperture to create a pull tab; 2) Pull on the pull tab to remove a panel; and 3) Push the blister to force the contents through the blister's seal. Advantageously, the present invention is designed such that information such as instructions and product information can be easily printed directly on the packaging. Moreover, users may also record information directly on the packaging. Thus, the present invention not only provides child-resistant and senior-friendly features, but also provides convenience for viewing and recording information.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for removing a plastic wrap from a cylindrical module includes a conveyor transporting the cylindrical module toward a disperser with the cylindrical axis of the module parallel to the direction of conveyor movement. In another embodiment, the disperser is a travelling head disperser thereby providing relative movement between the modules and the disperser. The direction of the wrap around the module is determined and the cover is removed during rotation of the module, either by unwrapping the plastic or by slitting the plastic and then rotating the module. The equipment used to handle a cylindrical module is moved out of the path of movement of a conventional rectangular module so an installation can handle both rectangular and wrapped cylindrical modules.

Upon removing the tab from the carton the adhesive strip is removed along with the tab. A method for opening the carton comprises applying a force to lift up on the partially perforated tab to remove the tab from the carton and to continue lifting upward to remove the remainder of the adhesive strip from the top panel.

Abstract: The invention provides a packaging for a medical article e.g. for a urinary catheter. The medical article is stored in a compartment and can be accessed by detaching a first element from a second element thereby forming an opening into the compartment. The first element comprises a suction cup or another fastening element by which the packaging is attachable to a surface. Due to the structure of the packaging, it can be supported in an orientation in which the opening is remote from the surface, and risk of contamination of the medical article can therefore be reduced during removal of the article from the packaging.

Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a product fastening system and, in particular, to a mechanism for securing a toy within product packaging. The packaging may include a toy support platform having a through-hole extending from a first surface to a second surface; a pliable strip configured to pass through the through-hole formed in the toy support platform and a fastener clip that captures the pliable strip to secure the toy to the support platform. The fastener clip may include a base with a plurality of notches formed therein. In operation, the pliable strip is wrapped around the toy object. The ends of the pliable strip are inserted through the through hole and inserted into the notch, becoming secured therein without the need for braiding or twisting the ends of the pliable strip.

Abstract: An easy-to-open and optionally resealable beverage can end provides opening by pressing downward. An actuator lies flat initially to conform to stackability requirements, but is readily repositionable to a ready-to-open state. In the ready-to-open state a planer surface of the actuator or tab is at a substantial angle to the can's top. A rigid body is interposed between it and the can's tear panel. The actuator is secured to the can top. Downward force ruptures the tear panel, opening the can. Using a wide actuator, a shallow protrusion on the actuator enables gas-tight resealability of a can opening. The shallow protrusion has an interrupted helix and fits into the can opening. Providing tab attachment via a radiused slot allows the small degree of rotational movement needed for the helix to be turned and pull the actuator bottom sealingly abutted proximate to the perimeter of the opened area.

The arm support frame is moved from the second location to the first location on the frame. The fold gripper is moved from the second location to the first location on the arm support frame. Bag grippers mounted to the arm support frame are closed on the first bag. The fold grippers are closed on the folds of a second bag attached to the first bag.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for automatic bundle transport, positioning, wrapper entry, wrapper opening, wrapper loosening, wrapper removal and wrapper dunnage takeaway. The wrapper is made from pliable material, thin film or similar material and which can comprise a variety of package types and sizes of mail, media or other items. Additionally the method and apparatus of the invention performs the tasks of wrapper removal and discharge without damaging the item contents within. A bundle unwrapping machine according to the invention includes a conveyor by which bundles are presented to the unwrapping machine for opening. An opening mechanism includes a pair of openers positioned to engage a bundle on opposite sites. The bundle is transported into an opening zone in which it is supported for engagement with the openers.

Abstract: A paperboard carton doubles as a shipping container for articles such as beverage cans and a cooler for containing ice to cool the articles when the carton is opened. The top portion of the carton is breached by removing an opening strip defined by zipper rules. Once breached, the tops and side panels of the carton are opened up to form an upwardly open chimney or skirt into which ice can be placed to cool the contents of the carton. Gussets formed in the lower corners of the cartons insure that water from melting ice does not leak prematurely from the carton.

Abstract: A clamp for sheets of material. The clamp includes a longitudinal main body with an external clamping side. The external clamping side comprises an external dragging surface for engaging a sheet of material. An internal clamping area inwardly extends from the external clamping side. The external dragging surface is at least partially movable into the internal clamping area so as to frictionally drag at least a portion of the sheet of material, engaged thereby, into the internal clamping area therewith. Clamping devices and bagging apparatus including such clamps are also disclosed. A method of clamping overlaying sheets of material is also disclosed.

Abstract: An opener for a blister package or for cutting of other planar material is disclosed. A cutter pair is provided adjacent an engagement area. When blister package layers are fed into the engagement area, the cutter pair including a top cutter and bottom cutter rotate to feed the package material through the engagement area. The cutters are closer together than a thickness of the package. At least one of the cutters includes a knife thereon to cause cutting of the material as it is fed between the cutter pair. A handle is provided supporting a head which has the cutter pair thereon. A motor provides power to cause rotation of the cutter pair through a gear set. A hand crank is also provided which can separately deliver power to the gear set to cause the cutters to rotate.

The sterilized tattoo machine according to the present invention includes a motor mounted on a housing that includes an opening to receive a commercially available needle tube, and an electrical connector by which the tattoo machine may be connected for power and disconnected prior to disposal. The needle tube is located relative to the motor to permit the end of the needle to resiliently remain on the connecting element (e.g. eccentric pin) of the motor when assembled, yet allow for easy assembly, adjustment and removal of the needle and needle tube.

The perforation elements (7, 8) are embodied as a member that has several faces, one of which is a lead-through surface. Preferably, the lead-through surface on the extraction side is formed by a foil section that is provided with the openings (9).

Abstract: A box for storing and displaying an item has a top panel that serves as a protective cover during storage and as ornamental dress during various modes of display. The panel includes a logo badge that is prominently displayed atop the package during storage and prominently displayed upright and forwardly facing during display. The logo badge cooperates with a magnet to maintain the box in its storage mode when not being used to display the item.
