Abstract: The present invention relates to colorant of the general formula, wherein A, B and B′, m and m′ and n and n′ are as defined in the description. The colorants can be used for the pigmenting of porous materials and in injekt printing and, in the case of pigmenting, are converted to the insoluble pigment form. In the pigmenting of porous materials, for example in the pigmenting of wood or anodised aluminium in the pores, the colorants yield very good penetration and fastness to light and, in injekt printing, yield very good water-resistance.
Abstract: The invention provides enantiomers of a joene and derivtives of Z(−)-ajoene. The derivative of Z(−)-ajoene are useful for modulating integrin-mediated functions, for treating disorders, diseases or conditions in which integrins play a role, and for treating tissues to improve their condition for a subsequent use, such as transplantation.

Abstract: &bgr;-lactamases are the most widespread resistance mechanism to &bgr;-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins and cephalosporins. In response to these enzymes, inhibitors have been introduced. Unfortunately, these inhibitors are also &bgr;-lactams, and resistance to them has developed rapidly. Consequently, the present invention provides a novel structure-based approach to inhibitors of these enzymes.
