Abstract: Sulfosuccinate ester-amides in which one carboxyl group of the sulfosuccinate is amidified with an aliphatic non-tertiary amine, for instance, a C.sub.8 -C.sub.12 aliphatic amine such as octyl or dodecyl amine, and in which the other carboxyl group of the sulfosuccinate is esterified by reaction with an .alpha.-monoepoxide such as propylene oxide, or higher .alpha.-monoepoxides, and method of preparation of such sulfosuccinate ester-amides. The said sulfosuccinate ester-amides have utility as surfactants, such as detergents and emulsifiers.

Abstract: There are disclosed herein novel builder salts of alkyloxysuccinic acids, alkyloxyhydroxysuccinic acids, alkylthiosuccinic acids, alkylthiohydroxysuccinic acids, and the sulfoxide and sulfone derivatives of the alkylthiosuccinic and alkylthiohydroxysuccinic acids. The new builder compounds can be generally represented as follows: ##STR1## wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of O, S, SO and SO.sub.2 ; X is H or OH; R is an alkyl radical containing from 6 to 30 carbon atoms and M is selected from the group consisting of alkali metal cations, ammonium and substituted ammonium. These new builder compounds can be substituted in detergent compositions for existing builders containing phosphorous or nitrogen without impairing and in some cases improving the efficiency of such detergent compositions.
Abstract: Salts of N-phosphonomethylglycine are produced by forming a salt of N-phosphonomethyliminodiacetic acid with a salt-forming cation in an aqueous medium and then oxidizing the salt solution with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a platinum on activated carbon catalyst. The salts produced are useful as herbicides or plant growth regulants.
Abstract: Unsymmetrical sulfosuccinate diesters in which one carboxyl group of the sulfosuccinate is esterified with an alcohol, for instance, a C.sub.8 -C.sub.12 aliphatic monohydric such as octyl or dodecyl alcohol, or with an ethoxylated or propoxylated alkyl phenol, and in which the other carboxyl group is esterified by reaction with an .alpha.-monoepoxide such as propylene oxide, or higher .alpha.-epoxides. The said diesters have utility as surfactants, such as detergents and emulsifiers.

Abstract: Mono- and diesters of 2,5-dihydroxy benzene sulfonic acid are represented by one of the following formulae: ##STR1## wherein R and R' can be identical or different and represent an alkanyl, arylalkanoyl, aryloxyalkanoyl, aryl, alkanesulfonyl, arenesulfonyl, alkylarenesulfonyl or arylalkanesulfonyl radical, B represents the cation of an alkali metal, alkaline-earth metal of ammonia or an unsubstituted or substituted, open chain or cyclic amine, and are remarkable for their hypocholesterolemic, hypotriglycidemic and hypolipidemic activity.
Abstract: This invention is concerned with (3-amino-5-substituted-6-fluoropyrazinoyl or pyrazinamido)guanidine compounds and derivatives thereof bearing substituents on the guanidine nitrogens. These compounds possess useful natriuretic properties. Also included are processes for preparing these compounds and a novel intermediate used in the preparation of these compounds.

Abstract: High molecular weight N-hydrocarbyl-substituted quaternary ammonium salts in which the hydrocarbyl group has a molecular weight of from about 350-3000 such as a polybutene ammonium chloride are effective detergents and dispersants for gasoline and lubricating oils.
Abstract: The invention is concerned with novel 16-aryloxy-, 16-alkoxy-, 16-arylthio- and 16-alkylthio-8-aza-9-dioxothia-11,12-seco-prostaglandins and processes for their preparation. These novel compounds are useful as pharmaceuticals since they can be used in animals for estrus synchronization and treatment of infertility due to persistence of luteal function.
Abstract: This application discloses arylethynylphenylcyclopropylamines and processes for their preparation. These amines exhibit monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibiting activity.
