Abstract: A method for removing non-fluorescent triazine derivative impurities having the structural formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydroxy group or a halogen atom,R.sub.2 is a hydroxy group or the group --NR.sub.4 R.sub.5, each ofR.sub.4 and R.sub.5 being a hydrogen atom, alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl or substituted aryl group, or R.sub.4 or R.sub.5 being combined in a heterocyclic ring, andR.sub.3 is an alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl or substituted aryl group,From fluorescent agents belonging to the class of compounds of 4,4'-di(sym-triazinylamino) stilbene-2,2'- disulphonic acids and salts thereof, by washing said fluorescent agent with a dilute aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide under atmospheric pressure and at a temperature not exceeding 75.degree. C.
Abstract: New 3-amino-phenylacetic acid compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is hydrocarbyloxy or hydrocarbylthio optionally substituted by halogen, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylmercapto or arylmercapto, or X is mono- or disubstituted amino, or represent a 5- to 8-membered heterocyclic ring;Y is oxygen or sulfur;Z is optionally substituted hydrocarbyl or hydrocarbyloxy or -thio, or Z can represent mono- or disubstituted amino, or a closed heterocyclic ring;Possess outstanding herbicidal activity, both pre-emergence and post-emergence.
Abstract: 2,4-Dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-s-triazino-[1,2-a]-benzimidazoles of the formula ##STR1## are produced by reacting a benzimidazole compound of the formula ##STR2## with a diphenyl carbonate of the formula ##STR3## wherein R.sup.1 is optionally substituted alkyl or aryl, alkenyl or dialkylamino,R.sup.2 is hydrogen, alkyl or trifluoromethyl,R.sup.3 is any of the R.sup.1 radicals or hydroxycarbonylalkyl, andR.sup.4 is hydrogen, alkyl or halogen. The reaction can be effected employing the benzimidazole in impure form, without isolation, in the vessel in which it is formed. Those compounds wherein R.sup.1 is a variously .omega.-substituted alkyl radical and R.sup.2 is hydrogen or methyl are new and all the compounds exhibit fungicidal activity.
Abstract: The present invention concerns novel nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a group of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are substituents, e.g. alkyl and R.sub.3 is hydrogen or a substituent, e.g. alkyl; R.sub.4 is a group R.sub.14 --X--, wherein R.sub.14 is a substituent, e.g. alkyl and X is --O--, --S-- or ##STR3## wherein R.sub.6 is hydrogen or a substituent, e.g. alkyl, or R.sub.4 is a heterocyclic ring or has one of the significances of R; R.sub.5 has one of the significances of R.sub.4 ; and Y is --N.dbd. or --CH.dbd..The compounds are useful as anti-oxidants in, e.g. plastics materials.
