Abstract: An adapter assembly includes an adapter body extending from an adapter inlet to an adapter outlet, a canister mount for securing the adapter body to an air filter canister, and an adapter joint for securing the adapter body to the canister mount. The canister mount includes a collar that is secured about the air filter canister. The adapter joint allows the adapter body to be moved away from the air filter canister for air filter replacement without having to disconnect the adapter body from the air filter canister. Precleaners are airtightly securable to the adapter body inlet, and the air filter canister is airtightly securable to the adapter body outlet. Air cleaned by the precleaners before reaching the air filter has less contamination to be filtered by the air filter before the air flows into an engine. Precleaning significantly extends the life of air filters.

Abstract: A motor, fan and cyclonic separation apparatus arrangement for a vacuum cleaner comprising: a motor coupled to a fan for generating air flow; and a cyclonic separation apparatus located in a path of the air flow generated by the fan. The cyclonic separation apparatus comprises: a plurality of cyclones each with an air inlet port and an air outlet port; and a cooling air flow path. The motor comprises a permanent magnet brushless motor, a switched reluctance motor or a flux switching motor. The fan has an outer diameter the same or less than the diameter of the motor. The plurality of cyclones, the motor and the fan are arranged in a circular array about a central axis of the cyclonic separation apparatus. The arrangement comprises a baffle for directing air flow from the fan out of the circular array. The motor is located in the cooling air flow path.

  • Patent number: 8978200
Abstract: A latch mechanism for a dirt cup of a vacuum cleaner. The latch mechanism can include a first sloped portion provided on a mounting structure for receiving a dirt cup and a filter housing in supporting relationship to the vacuum cleaner and a second sloped portion on the filter housing corresponding to the first sloped portion. Movement of the filter housing in a first direction relative to the mounting structure as the first and second sloped portions bear against each other results in the movement of the filter housing, and thus the dirt cup, in a second direction transverse to the first direction relative to the mounting structure.

  • Patent number: 8973215
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner operable to separate debris from an air stream. The vacuum cleaner includes a first cyclonic separator and a second cyclonic separator having an inlet configured to receive the air stream from the first cyclonic separator. The inlet of the second cyclonic separator directs the air steam in an inlet flow direction from an upper end of the first housing toward a lower end of the first housing and along a longitudinal axis into the second cyclonic separator. The inlet of the second cyclonic separator has an inlet cross-sectional area for flow of the air stream measured normal to the longitudinal axis that decreases in the inlet flow direction.

  • Publication number: 20150059296
Abstract: A filter element has a filter body having a longitudinal axis, wherein the filter body has a first end with a first end face and a second end with a second end face opposite the first end in direction of the longitudinal axis. The filter body is provided with inner and outer circumferential surfaces permeable for a medium to be filtered. A first end disk is arranged at the first end face and a second end disk is arranged at the second end face. The outer circumferential surface of the filter body has at least one fluid-tight area that is impermeable for the medium to be filtered. The fluid-tight area is an incoming flow protector or an improper handling protector resting on the outer circumferential surface.

  • Publication number: 20150059297
Abstract: A filter system for intake air of an internal combustion engine has a housing with a cover. A filter element is arranged in the housing. An inlet feeds a medium to be filtered into the housing and an outlet discharges the medium from the housing. The filter element has a filter body with first end face and opposite second end face. The filter element has an open first end plate at the first end face and a second end plate at the second end face. A support tube is arranged concentrically about a longitudinal axis in the housing and attached with a first end to the housing. The support tube is arranged in the interior of the filter element and radially supports the filter body. The second end plate rests on the second end of the support tube and on an inner cover contour of the cover with anti-rotation action.
