In some embodiments, a non-thermal drying system can be used to extract moisture from the raw material. Abstract: A centrifugal separator comprises a filtered-gas passageway, a spinner, and a drive mechanism. The filtered-gas passageway has an inlet. The spinner is configured and adapted to rotate about a spinner axis relative to the filtered-gas passageway, and has an inner cavity, a gas permeable outer wall, and a plurality of protrusions that extend radially outward from the gas permeable outer wall relative to the spinner axis. The inner cavity of the spinner is operatively connected to the inlet of the filtered-gas passageway. The drive mechanism is adapted to rotate the spinner about the spinner axis at a rate such that the protrusions prevent particulates from passing through the gas permeable outer wall and into the inner cavity of the spinner and such that gaseous matter is able to pass through the gas permeable outer wall, into the inner cavity, and thereafter into the filtered-gas passageway via the inlet.

  • Patent number: 8440077
Abstract: A combined degassing and flotation tank for separation of a water influent containing considerable amounts of oil and gas. A rotational flow is created in the tank which forces the lighter components such as oil and gas droplets towards an inner concentric cylindrical wall where they coalesce and rise to the surface of the liquid and are removed via the outlet. The heavier particles are forced down and sink to the lower part where they can be removed as a sludge. The water is discharged via an outlet in the lower part of the tank. The combined degassing and flotation tank is particular suited for use in oil production at sea for removal of oil and gases from water streams before the water is returned to the sea.

  • Patent number: 8404012
Abstract: An improved vehicle air filter includes a cylindrical housing having a continuous outer wall, a releasable bottom wall and an open top in communication with an interior air-delivery chamber. Circumferentially disposed about the outer wall are a plurality of conical air-intake tubes, each having an inlet opening in fluid communication with a hollow interior. The lower end of each tube is positioned immediately above a collection pan formed on the releasable bottom wall. An arcuate air conduit extends from the upper end of each tube to the air-delivery chamber. As air enters each tube, it flows along a cyclonic path to force entrained particles against the interior surface of the tube and downwardly into the collection pan.
