  • Patent number: 8721772
Abstract: A process chamber is configured to contain a work piece in a controlled atmosphere and to perform a process that emits pyrophoric particulates. A closed recirculating loop connected with the process chamber recirculates gas defining the controlled atmosphere through the process chamber. A filter in the closed recirculating loop captures the generated pyrophoric particulates in the recirculating gas. A valve set has a work configuration defining the closed recirculating loop including the connection of the process chamber with the filter, and a filter regeneration configuration in which the filter is blocked off from the process chamber and is connected with an exhaust. A work piece is loaded into the process chamber. With the valve set in the work configuration, the process is performed on the loaded work piece. Thereafter, regeneration gas containing oxygen is delivered to the filter with the valve set in the regeneration configuration.

  • Patent number: 8491685
Abstract: A dust collection arrangement employs a variable frequency drive to supply AC to its fan motor. A current sensor measures the current drawn by the motor, and this is compared with a preset value. The variable frequency drive adjusts the frequency of the AC applied to the motor to maintain the motor current at the preset level. This keeps the flow of air in the system optimal as dust producing tools are added or taken off.

  • Patent number: 8491686
Abstract: A dust collector arrangement has a dust separator supported on a frame, with a lid for the dust collection barrel is mounted onto the frame below it. The lid is supported at a fixed elevation above the surface of the shop floor to create a space or clearance between the rim of the dust collection barrel and the lid. The barrel is supported on casters, and can be rolled into place under the rim, and can be rolled out for emptying. Over-center latches positioned at intervals around the upper part of the barrel side wall, engage corresponding structure on the lid. These pull the barrel upwards against the lid and with the barrel casters lifted off the floor surface. The latch members release to lower the barrel for emptying.

  • Patent number: 8475577
Abstract: An aerosol sampling intake configured to exclude particles generally greater than 20 microns AD and capture particles of less than about 10 microns AD with high efficiency, independent of weather conditions, through which air is sampled by suction. The intake combines an omnidirectional horizontal segment with diffuser and elbow, the elbow transitioning flow to a vertical segment, the vertical segment with overhanging lip, the centrifugal impactor for self-cleaning operation, thus relieving the dual problems of re-entrainment of particles bouncing from the impactor surface and fouling by particles sticking to the impactor surface. The device is adapted for use on moving vehicles, for sampling at increased windspeeds, or for sampling in rain.

Abstract: A system for conditioning air flow to a gas turbine includes a filter housing and a conditioning media inside the filter housing to adjust the temperature of the air flowing through the filter housing. At least one of a depth or a density of the conditioning media varies across the filter housing. A method for conditioning air flow to a gas turbine includes flowing air through a filter housing connected to the gas turbine and flowing the air across a conditioning media in the filter housing. The method further includes conditioning the air flow to reduce the temperature difference of the air exiting the filter housing across a dimension of the filter housing.

Abstract: A filter assembly has an outer member and an inner member. The outer member is configured to allow a vacuum to be communicated through the outer member. The outer member comprises hydrophobic material and an interior cavity. The hydrophobic material is configured to substantially repel fluids at atmospheric pressure. At least a portion of the inner member is positioned within the interior cavity of the outer member. The inner member comprises occluding media configured to absorb fluids both at atmospheric pressure and when a vacuum is being communicated through the inner member. The filter assembly may be incorporated within a vacuum canister to be used in conjunction with a biopsy device as part of a biopsy system, although other suitable applications will be apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art in view of the teachings herein.

Abstract: A filter element is provided for filtering air in an inlet system of a gas turbine. The filter element includes a hydrophobic filter media that limits the passage of particulates and liquid from passing through the filter element. The filter media extends along a longitudinal axis and circumferentially about a central passageway that extends along the longitudinal axis. The filter media further includes a plurality of pleats. The pleats extend in a non-linear or helical orientation about the longitudinal axis. Adjacent pleats define a trough portion extending therebetween. The orientation of the pleats reduces liquid from accumulating and pooling within the trough portion and promotes drainage of the liquid from the filter element.

  • Patent number: 8425850
Abstract: Embodiments describe an arrangement for reducing the amount of LPA that reaches a NOx reducing apparatus such as a SCR system. The arrangement includes deflection elements, screens, means for dislodging any LPA that might become lodged in the screens, an aperture for removing the ash through, hoppers or collection means and an ash conveyance system. The arrangement is positioned in a region of ductwork with a reduced gas flow such as the SCR reactor. The screens are positioned relative to one another to direct the LPA downward toward an aperture for removal. In one embodiment the positioning of the screens creates a half-trough or inverted pyramid appearance when placed next to a vertical wall in the flue gas ductwork or the SCR reactor. The low point of the trough is in communication with the aperture allowing the LPA to exit the flue ductwork.
