  • Patent number: 8105410
Abstract: A water dissipation device for a breathing circuit is provided, including a bucket-shaped hollow composite structure having walls made of a first inner layer made of water vapor wicking material, and a second outer layer of a water vapor breathable medium surrounding the first inner layer. The device defines a flow space surrounded by the composite structure to provide a superior way of removal of moisture or water vapor from a breathing circuit, due to the greater surface area of flow spaces bounded by a water vapor breathable medium and the use of a water vapor wicking material and relatively long dwell times and flow paths through the device. The result is that when the device is connected to a breathing circuit, rainout or condensation in the breathing tube and collection of water within the breathing circuit is significantly reduced.

Abstract: A device for introduction of an ammonia dopant into a spectrometry system without the use of a delivery system containing ammonia. The delivery device includes an ammonium solid that will, upon the introduction of heat, yield ammonia gas for delivery into the spectrometer system. Use of such an alternative to traditional ammonia dopant systems will yield little or no change in spectrometer readings. The volumetric flow rate of the ammonium is controlled by the use of capillary tubes as the exiting pathway, where the flowrate is determined by the cross sectional area and length of the capillary tube. Delivery of the ammonia is aided by use of a frit or screen to permit only gas to exit.

  • Patent number: 7753982
Abstract: A filter element comprising a filter jacket, a fluted filter media, and an internal seal is provided. The filter jacket defines a filter jacket inner surface, a gravitational bottom, an upstream end, and a downstream end. The filter jacket includes a moisture release aperture disposed proximate the gravitational bottom. The fluted filter media resides within the filter jacket and defines a filter media outer surface. The fluted filter media comprises a planar sheet and a fluted material intermittently bonded together and collectively coiled to form a plurality of flutes. First and second selected ones of the plurality of flutes are closed proximate the upstream and downstream ends, respectively. The internal seal is formed between the filter jacket inner surface and the filter media outer surface. The internal seal is disposed within the filter jacket between the upstream and downstream ends. The moisture release aperture is located upstream of the internal seal.
