    Abstract: An engine crankcase breather includes a housing having a lower end including an inlet opening and an upper end including an outlet opening. The inlet opening lies in a horizontal plane and the outlet opening lies in a vertical plane. A mesh filter is positioned within the housing and includes opposing inlet and outlet faces defining a mesh filter thickness. The inlet and outlet faces are parallel to the inlet opening and are positioned below a central axis through the outlet opening. A bottom wall of the housing defines a portion of the lower end and includes a downward slope toward a lip defining the inlet opening. The mesh filter is spaced above the bottom wall. The engine crankcase breather also includes a plurality of oil return openings through the lip.

Filter medium sections joined by a fold edge define an intermediate fold space, respectively, with a fold base and fold peaks opposite the fold base. The ceramic particles are bonded to adjacent ceramic particles with a strength sufficient to render the porous body self-supporting. The porous body may be manufactured by preparing a dispersion comprising the ceramic particles and a polymer matrix material in a solvent, removing the solvent by heating and/or evaporation, forming a preform of the dried material, and firing the preform to remove the polymer matrix material and bond the ceramic particles to each other. The porous body is useful as a filter element in a system adapted to remove nanoscale particles from a fluid stream.

    Abstract: A separator for a vacuum cleaner has a cover part from which webs are projecting which are positioned along the circumference of the cover part at a spacing one behind the other with formation of through openings. At least some of the webs are without connection with each other at the end that is facing away from the cover part. The webs are elastically yielding transversely to the longitudinal direction. The webs are positioned in their mounting position with radial pretension on a spider which is fixedly seated on the motor shaft of the vacuum cleaner. Due to centrifugal forces occurring in operation of the vacuum cleaner as a result of the high rotary speed of the motor shaft, the webs of the separator are positioned with their free ends under high force on the spider. The separator is thus reliably entrained by the spider by friction.
