Abstract: A method for metallizing a polymeric substrate is disclosed. Therefore, the problem associated with disposal of such amine hydrochlorides and the problem of limitations on the use of the silane compound product due to mixing of such amine hydrochlorides can be obviated effectively.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a reaction product of a tetraalkoxysilane or a silicate oligomer obtained by its partial hydrolysis-dehydration-polycondensation, with an amino alcohol having one or two hydroxyl groups, and a dehydrating agent comprising such a reaction product.The dehydrating agent of the present invention is suitable for dehydrating a moisture at a level of a few hundreds ppm. Further, since an amino alcohol is formed by the dehydration, it is particularly useful as a dehydrating agent for a raw material for the production of a urethane resin or an epoxy resin.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process for producing an optically active cyclobutylamine which comprises reacting a racemic modification of cyclobuthylamine represented by the following general formula [I]: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represent each a hydrogen atom or a protecting group; with an optically active N-acylphenylglycine to thereby give two corresponding diastereomeric salts, crystallizing the more difficultly soluble diastereomeric salt and isolating the corresponding optically active cyclobutylamine from the diastereomeric salt thus crystallized. Abstract: The present invention relates to a series of novel phthalocyanine compositions (or compounds) suitable for use as photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy. Specifically, the invention relates to a series of new aluminum (Al) and/or silicon (Si) phthalocyanines having substituted amine or quaternary ammonium axial ligands attached to the central metal, and the use of these new phthalocyanine compositions for the treatment of cancer through photosensitization. Moreover, the present invention is directed to the methods of preparing these compositions for use in photodynamic therapy.

Abstract: Silane coupling agents and a method of preparing the coupling agents are provided in which a silane coupling agent is prepared by reacting 2.3 to 4.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 4 active hydrogen atoms are bound, by reacting 1.3 to 3.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 3 active hydrogen atoms are bound and to which one alkylsilyl group is bound, or by reacting 0.3 to 2.0 mols of a haloalkylalkoxysilane with 1 mol of a diamine having N atoms to which 2 active hydrogen atoms are bound and to which 2 alkylsilyl groups are bound. Abstract: The present invention is a process for the preparation of primary aminoorganosilanes. The process comprises contacting an cyanoorganosilane with hydrogen gas in the presence of a supported cobalt catalyst. The result of this process is a near quantitative conversion of the cyanoorganosilane to a primary aminoorganosilane. The apparent rate and yield of the process can be improved by use of an organic solvent, without effecting specificity for the primary aminoorganosilane.
Abstract: The invention discloses novel fatty carboxylic acid salts of organofunctional silicone amines. The amino pendant functionality is present within the polymer. Compounds of the invention by virtue of their being salts, deposit on the surface of various substrates. Thereby altering the substrate's surface physical properties. The desirable durable properties which can be given to substrates include; softness, lubrication, soil release, and hydrophobicity. The compounds of the present invention are prepared by the neutralization of a silicone amine with a fatty carboxylic acid.

Abstract: The present invention is a process specific for the preparation of bis- and tris- amines by the contact of silylorganoamines in the presence of palladium monoxide catalyst. Abstract: The present invention relates to a series of novel silicone phosphate organic amine salts. These compounds have one or more pendant phosphate group in the free acid form which is neutralized by a fatty amine group. The amine group will become protonated and a net positive charge will result. The phosphate will donate the proton and develop a net negative charge. This compound is more substantive and higher foaming than any of the components alone. These phosphated silicone salts by virtue of this unique salt formation is highly foaming, non irritating to eyes and skin and deposits on fiber surfaces and form effective surface modifying finishes. The compounds of the present invention are therefore very well suited to applications in the personal care market.

Abstract: The invention discloses novel organofunctional silicone polymers which have an amphoteric pendant functionality. Compounds of the invention by virtue of their amphoteric structure are good detergents and foaming agents and essentially non irritating to eyes and skin. The compounds of the invention are nonirritating, and non yellowing and provide detergency and foam to many formulated products, including cosmetic and personal care products.The compounds of the present invention are prepared by introduction of a amphoteric group by reaction of acrylic acid or methyl acrylate with a primary alkoxylated amine containing the silicone polymer.

A method of reducing the surface tension of an aqueous solution is also disclosed in which an effective amount of one of the above described compounds is added to the aqueous solution.

Abstract: A process for preparing an organic silicon compound is here disclosed which comprises the step of reacting a halogenated hydrocarbon selected from the group consisting ##STR1## wherein each of X.sup.1 to X.sup.16 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, an alkyl group, alkenyl group, phenyl group, naphthyl group, alkoxy group, acyl group, alkylamino group and dialkylamino group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which are unsubstituted or substituted and a halogen atom; and each of at least one of X.sup.1 to X.sup.4, at least one of X.sup.8 to X.sup.10 and at least one of X.sup.11 to X.sup.16 is a halogen atom,with a silane selected from the group consisting of SiH.sub.4, Si.sub.2 H.sub.6 and Si.sub.3 H.sub.8.
Abstract: Novel silanes having sterically hindered aminohydrocarbyl groups of the formula X.sub.3 SiRCR'.sub.2 NR".sub.2 and having utility as coupling agents and a process for their preparation are described.

Abstract: A metal-containing polymer represented by the general formula: ##STR1## where M represents a group IV metal atom, X represents N(SiR.sup.1 R.sup.2 R.sup.3).sub.2 or N(R.sup.4)SiR.sup.1 R.sup.2 R.sup.3, each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 represents an alkyl group or aryl group, Ar represents a (substituted) phenylene, (substituted) naphthylene or (substituted) anthrylene group, and n represents an integer of 2 to 5000.The polymer can be produced by the oxidation-reduction alternating copolymerization using a reductant monomer represented by MX.sub.2 as and substituted-benzoquinones, -naphthoquinones or -anthraquinones as the oxidant monomer.The polymer is solvent-soluble and can be used as functional materials such as resist materials, electronic materials, etc.
Abstract: Surface active silicone compounds which have an improved stability at a pH above 9 or below 4, have the general formula ##STR1## wherein each R independently represents an alkyl or aryl group, each R' represents an alkylene group preferably separating neighbouring silicon atoms by up to 3 carbon atoms, each R" independently denotes R or, only if a is 0, the group R.sub.3 SiR'--, Z represents a hydrophilic sulphur, nitrogen or phosphor containing substituent or a carboxy-functional group or a salt thereof, and a has the value 0, 1 or 2.

Abstract: A process for preparing a perfluoroalkyl-substituted compound is disclosed. The process comprises reacting a halopolyfluoroalkane having 1 to 20 carbon atoms with a compound selected from the group consisting of (1) a substituted or unsubstituted ethylene, (2) a substituted or unsubstituted acetylene and (3) a substituted or unsubstituted allylsilane, in the presence of a metal-carbonyl complex of the metal of the Group VIII of the Periodic Table. Alternatively, the reaction between the halopolyfluoroalkane and the substituted or unsubstituted allylsilane is effected under radical generating condition.
Abstract: Difunctional halo silicon amide compounds are prepared by cleaving the nitrogen-silicon bond in a nitrogen-silicon heterocycle with a reactive halide. The reaction is straight forward with no intermediates or byproducts. The halo functionality is capable of capping any SiOH group. When the other functionality is an acrylamide, the capped entity may be polymerized or crosslinked by free radical initiators of the acrylamide functionality thereby producing useful products such as paper release coatings and photoresists.
